My wife was diagnose with MS the day after we were married 13 years ago. She is a total Quad now on a feeding tube.(her feeding machine is in the picture) Poor woman can't even eat solid food. There is a tube that goes right into her stomach right under her sternum. Even tho she is not suppose to have anything by mouth I still feed her coffee, yogurt, pudding, and of course BEER. It's a quality of life issue. I manage about 30 different meds. She gets about 16 every night that I have to crush in a pedestal, add warm water to and with a syringe squirt it in her. Now the cool thing about that is, this goes right in her. There is no dissolving down the throat so when I give her drugs for pain her eyes get real big and most of the time she say's "HE DOES LOVE ME" We try to keep each other laughing. She also has a super pubic catheter that comes out of her right above the pubic line. That tube has to be changed every 3 weeks. She has NO immune system left. If I bring her to Wal-Mart during Christmas Withen 20 mins her nose is running, her eyes are watering, she starts drooling. Needless to say she is looking bad. I told her that gave new meaning to the phrase "shop till ya drop" And that's just a few things, there are so many more. When I bring her to the doctors or the ER the doctor ask me what to do and follows my instructions to the letter.
Believe me there are days that I say to myself "I cant do this anymore" But one look at her sleeping in her bed at HOME getting the care she deserves makes it all worth while. She certainly did not ask or do anything to deserve this.
i feel for ya, stay strong cause she loves you caring for her and i dont think she would want anyone else in the world to take care of her till her time comes.
My choir HS teacher had MS and from what i heard he passed away 2 maybe 3 yrs after i graduated in 1993. he too is a fighter, he would walk around with a cane and loved to play music and teach choir. I have seen him in his down days too but we all kept each other positive.
do you have her wear a facial medical mask when you go out places like to walmart n etc? I always keep a few handy here cause of my oldest boy catching colds so quickly.
