  1. I haven't tried the free one @@hxtr, but give it a try. I think it should do the trick.
  2. No problem! It should do just what you need.
  3. You need an image-based backup. Veeam will do the trick.
  4. Thanks everyone. I'm reminded of Groucho Marx's quip that "...I'd never want to belong to a club that would have me as a member!"
  5. Nope, cruising at altitude. It may look like it's climbing because of the angle that the camera was held.
  6. Thanks! It's one of 2 regular afternoon flights of Dash-8 turboprops. Too low and too slow for contrails.
  7. Fly me to the Moon...A cropped and contrast-enhanced shot I took hand-held with a zoom lens at 250mm./ I wish I had thought to set the camera to take RAW images at that time. From earlier this past summer. Not great quality, but it was fun to take.
  8. Way to go >XI<'ers! Wish I could have been there. I had an astronomy conference planning meeting all afternoon today.
  9. It is naked eye, and is apparently a beauty in binoculars. Sadly, we're getting snow here, again, tonight. A colleague of mine, Alan Dyer, took the photograph in this article: http://www.theguardian.com/science/2015/jan/08/comet-lovejoy-return-amateur-astronomers
  10. The first image was taken at ISO800 and 1/80th a second shutter, and is close to what the eye saw at 7:40AM this morning. The second one is auto settings, with flash in an attempt to capture the snowflakes. It's going to be like this here all day in and near London Ontario, Canada. Strong winds will give blizzard conditions. I'll be working from home today.
  11. Nice composition Maverick41! My fave is the grounded boats (I was raised in a small fishing village).
  12. The other COD5 servers don't get it as bad. Very strange. Is it the host?
  13. That's a common yellow-jacket, a type of wasp. They built a nest up in between the concrete slab that's the base of our front shade porch and the house. They had to briefly hover before they climbed up and in. I laid down on their flight path - with several of them pinging against my head - and zoomed in and took a number of shots. I focused on the wall and pulled back focus in the hopes of getting a good shot or two. Making it more adventurous is that I'm allergic to wasp stings!
  14. Why? If they've served their time, paid their dues, and moved on, who cares? And how, exactly, would we police this? Background checks?
  15. Nice shot Merlin! You caught a great one of Saturn.
  16. Thanks for the link! When we lived in Nova Scotia, we'd often see USAF transports being refueled mid-air as they were entering North America. Pretty cool thing to watch in binoculars.
  17. Hi Sweatnbullets, I haven't gotten into astrophotography yet, though it's high on my list of things to learn. That's why I got the telescope adapter for the camera and the mount that the telescope is sitting on. Hopefully by the time Spring comes around I can get into it. winters are too damn cloudy here to have a chance to take a deep dive. I have friends that are award-winning night-sky photographers. Great people to learn from.
  18. Take at dusk with my LG G3 smartphone. Its low-light capability is impressive. To my eyes it was much darker than this. The foreground is lit with a streetlight, and a train is coming in the distance. The full-size image is also attached.
  19. Very nice shots! Yeah, cameras on phones are getting better and better. My LG G3 has a 13mp camera, and I can choose focus points on the touch screen, plus many other features that used to be only on high-end cameras.
  20. Original version of the dash-8 attached. Click on thumbnail to view.
