  1. Awesome! I love DIY solutions. I'm thinking of putting my BeagleBone Black dev board to use somehow with the camera. That'll be a Summer project.
  2. Awwww, poor pup. Sorry for your loss. At least you gave him a good life.
  3. Used auto-focus. Off just by a hair.
  4. @Gam3GurL Nice pics! Old pup has just one eye?
  5. Too much crop here, and poor focus. One of my earlier shots. Now, I'd set the camera to Manual and adjust most settings.
  6. Cropped and lightly sharpened turkey vulture soaring over my home. I know it's Spring when I see my first vulture. Wing-span on these birds can reach 6 feet.
  7. I finished a 5 hour video seminar on just the functions and features of my Canon 70D. Playing with manual settings and a macro lens:
  8. Can't be done. No matter how you slice-and-dice it, It needs to either connect to a networked PC or directly to your router via ethernet. I looked into this a while ago, and after researching the snot out of it, I ran Cat6 all over the house. Luckily, the basement has a drop-ceiling and the previous owners drilled holes in the floor in several rooms.
  9. And evolution...evidence. From many, many vectors. As unassailable as any scientific theory (not to be confused with the generic definition of "theory") can get. Evolution requires no belief. That's its beauty and elegance.
  10. Why, you're nothing but a butterface taint waffle!!! I like this one: http://www.mainstrike.com/mstservices/handy/insult.html, Thou frothy doghearted gudgeon!
  11. Folks, I'm getting concerned about the level of insults being used on the XI forums, particularly in the Politics forum. They're dull. Lame. Boring. Platitudinous (I paid $.50 Cdn/$.60 US for that one). They lack colour (Canadian/UK spelling), flavour (Canadian/UK spelling) and originality. I want to see some Vigour (more Canadian/UK spelling), consideration, and serious vituperation (I sold a kidney to pay for that one) in our repartee (now I'm being a pretentious twat)! To assist, I offer this. Please use generously in your jabs and quips:
  12. Left, right, who cares? His big ego and a big helping of narcissism did him in. Lesson? Don't bullshit in the instant-communication era, especially if you're high-profile.
  13. Colour me skeptical. All we have are the words of the parents. And zero evidence. As has been the case for every other supernatural claim, ever.
  14. Happy birthday, my friend.
  15. That's hilarious! He's just reading them verbatim! I'm splitting a gut listening to this!!!
  16. A brilliant man. A bit of a shit-disturber and something of an elitist, but I can't fault his research on evolutionary biology nor his writings on religion in general. His late friend Christopher Hitchins stated his case much more eloquently.
  17. Beautiful shots! Thanks for sharing @eidlonfire
  18. Can you dial back capabilities for specific players? I'm looking at you @@Belted and @@skuzapo! Nice Tweaks @@Merlin007!
  19. Related to this, in the early 1990's when I was a graduate student, I was doing research at NATO headquarters in Brussels. I had to go to Warsaw (that in itself is an extraordinary story), and one of the greatest honours of my life, and a very proud moment for my dad, was when the Canadian embassy asked me to lay a wreath on behalf of Canada at the monument to the Warsaw Ghetto. All these years later, it's still a proud and emotional memory for me. Oisbrukirt mit tsores iz der veg tsum bais-hakvores (The road to the cemetery is paved with suffering).
  20. 8.1 with ClassicShell to give me my start menu and I never see the tablet interface, ever. It's leaner, manages memory much better, and boots faster. I think of it as Windows 7.2
  21. Awesome Hxtr! Glad to see it's working for ya! ...and...ummmm....errrrr...no other "thanks" required!
  22. According to reports, Microsoft wanted a clean break from Windows 8. Purely a marketing decision.
