  1. Following Modern Warfare 2 furor, EA DICEcalls out availability of player-run online multiplayer spaces forupcoming military shooter. Infinity Ward hit a chord with PC gamers last week when it revealed that the desktop edition of its highly anticipated Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 wouldn't support player-run dedicated servers.Instead, Infinity Ward plans to introduce IWNet, a service that tradesoff dedicated servers for a more structured, console-like onlinemultiplayer experience controlled entirely by the developer. Thoughbilled as an improvement in matchmaking, the move will prevent ownersof the PC version of the game from managing their own servers as theywish. Bad Company 2 hopes to find good company online. Following the news, many devout PC gamers expressed their discontent over Infinity Ward's decision en masse through an online petitionthat has secured more than 164,000 signatures. Capitalizing on thisfuror, fellow online PC shooter developer EA DICE has taken theopportunity to remind its fan base that dedicated servers will be apart of the Battlefield: Bad Company franchise's first iteration ondesktops. "Since Battlefield 1942, DICE has used dedicated servers for all platforms," the developer wrote on its Web sitethis week. "This formula has worked well, and still works well, for usand for the gaming community. We have stayed true to this practice andwill continue this tradition into the upcoming title Battlefield: BadCompany 2." As noted by DICE, Battlefield: Bad Company 2's online serverswill be hosted by a variety of a datacenters in locations throughoutthe world that players can rent space from. Accordingly, server ownerswill be afforded admin control over their rented space, "allowing youto manage your server, your way." Players will also be able to earnranks and rewards on dedicated servers, and they will also be coveredby anti-cheat software. The sequel to last year's well-regardednew expansion of EA DICE's shooter franchise, Battlefield: Bad Company2 will be available for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PC on March 2.For more information, check out GameSpot's previous coverage.
  2. Call of Duty 7 Rumored to be Set in Vietnam, Cuba Yes, Modern Warfare 2 isn't out yet, and there are already rumors about the next next CoD. By Kris Pigna, 05/03/2009 Activision Blizzard is nothing if not forward thinking. While Modern Warfare 2 is still months away from release, rumors are already swirling about the next Call of Duty game after that, which would be the seventh in the series. According to a "a source we consider reliable," That VideoGame Blog reports (viaDestructoid) that Activision has been seeking to license VietnamWar-era music, as well as Cuban, African, and Soviet Union music --indicating the game could likely be set between the 60's-80's, takingplace in any of the aforementioned settings. Also passed on by this source is that World at Warsenior producer Noah Heller will be involved with the game, which meansTreyarch would once again be at the helm. That VideoGame Blog notesthat Heller has previously stated that "we're happy that we put [WorldWar II] to bed" in the last game, further indicating a change insetting for Treyarch's next installment. While a Call of Duty title set in the Vietnam War would be anobvious guess, the breadth of scope of the music being licensed seemsto suggest Activison may be planning a broader scale -- perhapstouching on a number of other proxy wars and conflictsthat took place during the Cold War. The Bay of Pigs invasion? CubanMissile Crisis? Afghan-Soviet War? The era sure seems to offer a lot ofgrist for Activision's mill. But as usual, this is just a rumor for now, and Activisionresponded to Destructoid's request for comment with the usual"Activision doesn't comment on rumor and speculation" reply. Besides,we still have Modern Warfare 2 to play through before we should even have to start speculating about Call of Duty 7, don't we?

  15. I do agree with cavey, some worry to much about scores rather than just playing.... The ones who are whining about others should start shooting the large zombies also..... Its that easy..... Get with a admin and we can come in and see how bad it is and if they are creating such a problem then we can ask them to change there play, but that would be a last choice effort for me...
