Forget "autopilot", "cruise control" etc. - they don't exist on our traditional narrowboats. No you're stuck on the back for anything up to eight hours at a time. This requires great endurance, especially for people who are past a certain age... We discussed the problem with a lady who ran a boat business and she said the solution was a "comfort bottle".
