We've had a member leave, possibly over a comment he made in one of the appeals threads.

We've had this problem of folks commenting on appeals threads for some time. The way to fix it is to remove appeals from the public forums.

An appeal should be a communication between someone who has been banned, and the admin team. The rest of the clan needn't be inolved in what in effect is a personal matter.

You might create a new "member" of XI named "Appeal Ban" that anyone who has been banned can then send a PM to. All of the appeals would go to that "user." One of the admin can monitor those messages and copy any appeals to an appeals thread on the the admin forum for discussion/resolution. Or, just appoint an admin in charge of appeals and make clear that all appeals are to be in the form of a PM to that admin.

Perhaps others have ideas on how to better handle appeals....??

nice thought harry. If comments for appeals cant be avoided,(whigh is the case 90 % of the time) it should be a private matter that only admins can read and comment on, and not displayed for all  who come to the website to read.. I also commented on that appeal. The reason the person thought he got banned was something, even though i wasnt on that server at the time, occurs regularaly when i play in the mornings with the standard people who play with me at that time...the regulars.  I thought some insight would help the individual understand a little more the difference between razzing and being insulting, beings as we do that an awful lot without incident...................guess i was dead ass wrong!!!!!!!!!!!! Should have just kept my comments to myself.

Unfortunately, the thread has been completely removed so that NOONE can see it now.

Well, one option would be to have an email address called [email protected], with an auto responder to state that the appeal will be look at as soon as possible.  This could go out to a group of admins.

Or...  [email protected], [email protected], [email protected], etc where the relevant gaming admins have access with a autoreply.  Discussions wold be a bit difficult, but then maybe a cod4 appeals pm box, etc where the relevant admins have access.

I'm sure the Senior Admins will come up with the best solution.

I did post that the appeals forum could maybe be renamed to "Appeals (Post if you are appealing or an Admin only)".

Some food for thought.

99% of the time we have no troubles in the forum. Now that being said i posted on boomers saying this could of been a reason---- If boomer does not let us know then this is not a issue.   The appeals forum is working and has been for some time now. Most of those who post in the forum after a quick pm letting them know they have no trouble and life moves on.

Does it need to be changed? i do not---- But cavey's suggestion of changing the wording may be worth doing. Other than that we have had hardly any reason to change it....

Now as always suggestions are the key to making XI move ahead. Rugger is away for the XI fest so when he gets back we will go over it with him.....  Thanks for the input    keep it coming..

i think that if ur gonna change the name and put admins only on it. why not just make it for admin views only. that way thiers no issues with people just posting to raise thier counts or trying to cause drama for everyone.  when the one that was banned does an appeal they can tell thier side of it and if they have any witness's they can name them. then we can do all our research on all thier info. we are all a great admin team. hell the best any clan could ever have. they often imatate us, but can't duplcate us. thats why we're the best around.
