IW3MP.EXE - Failure

I loaded MS 8 - now I can't play COD4 - I have upgraded all drivers - I have researched (Google) the problem to exhaustion - I can play for 2 or 3 minutes then get kicked w/ IW3MP Error. Before I go out and buy a new sound card, as it appears everything points to the sound card, or microphone - I thought I would solicit everyone's assistance - I have changed settings - mono to stereo and most of the simple things but can't find the magic potion - Anyone have any suggestions? Unplugged re-plugged he11 I would shove it up Johnny's a$$ if I thought it would help! - Thank you!

HI CL2OLDie

first option :

For any voice features (since I'm no sound expert, I know unfortunately nothing at all accurate about it) Call of Duty 4 Modern Warfare requires the enabled stereo mix.

To enable you to go with Windows 7, Windows Vista and Windows XP, follow these steps.

1.Klickt with the right mouse button in the lower right corner of the screen on the speaker icon.

2.In the context menu that appears, select your "recording devices" and click on it.

3.Es opens a window "Sound" with the Settings tab "Recording". Now click somewhere within that tab with the right mouse button and select "Show Disabled Devices"

4.You should point the "Stereo Mix" will appear in the tab. Click with the right mouse button and select "Enable"

second option :

If you use x-fire, maybe your problem is connected with this.

The same thing happens to me too often.

It has even happened that all my directx files were destroyed.

If I then shot in COD4 with the Dessert Eagle, listened to it as if to throw peas in a tin can.

After a long search I've only found these possibilities.

- Use no X-FIRE.

or:

- If you install the game then go to your installation folder and copy the multiplayer exe and store them where from different.

If the current exe no longer works, delete them and copy back the saved exe in the installation folder. What you can then do so every time when the exe stops working.

I hope this helps a little bit .

I get that error very often. I thought it might have been a steem error, but I don't know.

Usually, I have to task mgr and close all superflous apps, then open again. If you reboot it will just open the progs you just closed, so close them again.

If you find a fix, let me know.

Right click the Iw3Mp in the folder where cod4 is installed....on the compatibility mode tab change the mode back to the previous version you had before you installed windows 8 or in Janey's case back to the previous OS and hit apply...and if Kantana reads this you should do the same thing as when I installed windows 8 I had the very same problem you had with the download thing till I ran it in windows 7 compatibility mode and the same problem Janey and CL2OLDie are having!
