At some point with newer OS this game will completely start breaking down. ...I hope not, what will I do on those long winter nights without COD4 ;-( Did you try what i said m8, ie to uninstall your game, then update your sound drivers, than reinstall game back to your new drivers, it's the only thing that works for me out of all these possible fixes, i know it's a shit having to uninstall game but it always fixes it for me in the end...or in the past when i used to get the problem at least.
