Ok guys, I know I am putting a bunch of work on myself but looking for thoughts to a basic idea.

 

Should this game still be strictly survival, where you take what you get for the entire match with your chosen class set including abilities? Also weapons like gungame (except no forced upgrades) where you upgrade via a set list by spending points? The usual.

 

Or for example, as a basic idea, should you start with nothing but the basic weapon of your choice that you cant change and no passive abilities. As you get points you can spend them on upgrades. That is more like the 'money' system used in other games and the typical progression. But in this case you dont lose anything or have to choose among them. You add to what you already have. Which means eventually, depending on how quickly you get points and spend them you could be a supersoldier, for lack of a better word. However the same points... just as it is now... could also be used on one-time items like explosives or special weapons. So you make the choice. Each match its like starting as a rookie dropped into the zombie zone. So the skill points idea wouldnt fit. You start off as a recruit and the zombies are easy... ish... on wave one.

 

To keep that from going too fast upgrades would have to cost. Say the current 5000+ for one upgrade or ability. Or something along those lines. Maybe make the upgrades small. Or basic+pro versions. It does get complicated. So you choose between claymores or saving for an rds. It is significantly different from how it is now. But it would also be more unique. Maybe. Dunno if another mod does this for some other zombie game. There are some other requirements that would have do be done. For example you cant have c4 and claymores in your inventory at the same time.  Also, to be fair, as you add to your abilities the zombie waves should get harder not easier. Dunno if that means tougher zombies or just more of them. As it is now, do the waves actually get significantly harder? Or are they just random up until the boss wave?

 

There is a lot of use of ammo and health packs. So maybe there would likely have to be some kind of class where each has a certain team ability or item. Or make them limited item purchases that anyone can get. Like buying five packs of C4. But you cant have both types at the same time.

 

Thoughts? Or tweaks?

Forgot, that does make certain weapon choices problematic. Such as, why would anyone choose a sniper rifle. Its not good up close and a sidearm is required for that. One idea, for that, is to make sniper rifles powerful.
