  1. You might just want to wait until the smoke clears before getting too excited. One little tidbit you left out of your story was:

"The company generated $90 million in mobile revenue last quarter, though it didn't say how that was split between Android and iOS."

In other words, they had a great quarter because of a push through Apple's I store, but they aren't telling us how much of those sales were on Android devices because they're kissing Apple's ass to generate more sales.

Stay tuned, the truth will come out soon.

If you take the average revenue $$ for online sales that Apple has vs Android and just use that we'll probably have a good estimate already.  I predict EIGHTY million of that was Apple's and I'm probably low.

  2. APPLE!

For the first time ever, Electronic Arts (EA), the world's third-largest gaming company, gained more revenue through Apple than any other single partner. All-told, the company's mobile and tablet revenue hit $90 million last quarter, representing 18 percent of its overall takings. Digital revenue in general grew to $378 million, meaning less than a quarter of EA's $495 total revenue came from traditional sales.

  3. Doom, Doom 2, Heritic, Hexen, ROT(Rise of the Triads), Duke Nukem were the start..... ran on my 486DX2 66 in DOS. Now them were good games and no 3D games today would be the same without them. Doom being the first...... multiplier FPS.

But cool history lesson anyway... thats what they get for making it on a MAC in the first place. ;)

Well doom was actually originally developed on a predecessor of the current MacOS called NeXt Step:

      from: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Development_of_Doom

Programming  Doom was developed on NeXT workstations, under the NEXTSTEP operating system

    Keeping it on Bungie,

They did have an FPS called Pathways into darkness which was introduced a few months before DOOM, and then they followed it up a year later with a product that kicked Doom's butt graphically and network game play wise:

  4. We saw a preview of an amazing little game called Halo:

That was running on a 500 MHz G4 with a 100 MHz bus, truly amazing stuff for the time.

Then as we all know, Microsoft bought the company and prostituted the product for their Xbox launch and screwed up the PC and Mac versions which had to be re-ported much later.

And now that MS finally finished digesting Bungie and has spit it back up, hopefully we'll see some great innovation with this next effort:

Apple vows to investigate after woman killed by iPhone shock

A 23-year-old Chinese woman was shocked to death while answering a telephone call on her iPhone while it was charging.

The woman owned an iPhone5, Reuters reported. Apple reportedly is investigating the incident. Bloomberg reported that Ma Ailun, 23, who worked as a flight attendant for China Southern Airlines, was exiting her bath when the phone rang. The woman’s sister said on Twitter that Miss Ma — who was due to be married in August — fell to the floor right after answering the phone.

“We will fully investigate and cooperate with authorities in this matter,” Apple said in a statement to Reuters. And to Bloomberg, the a spokesperson with Apple China said: “We are deeply saddened to learn of this tragic incident and offer our condolences to the Ma family.”

Apple did not clarify whether other similar cases of shock have been reported with its phones.

  6.

Should be there Wednesday evening, driving at the moment.

    Guaranteed you'll make good time...LOL

I'm working on doing a realtime video feed, we'll see if that happens...

That would be cool so the rest of us can see what a bunch  idiots we all are! Good idea Pinglo!

Was just talking about the ride out, but I'm sure we could do something like an oovo or the like while we are there.  There will also be plenty of pictures and videos if it's like last year.

  7. Good info Randall,

Depending on your flavor of COD4 Mac (Retail, Aspyr GameAgent store or Mac App Store) your files will either be in or /Applications or in ~/Library/Application Support/Call of Duty 4.

Could be a setting too, try creating a new profile in COD4 and see if you can play ok, then I'd look at the settings (Especially the Textures, should be on High).

Let us know if anything works or doesn't.
