  1. I'm making a new post on this in the admin section for this discussion.
  2. Mofo and I were talking last night about starting with 1 x 32 slot server and going from there. We'll finalize a plan tonight.
  3. Chkn - For me, I just hold down my shift key to run. I had a couple instances where people shot me though objects, or I fell under the map. I'm not sure how many of these glitches is because it's a beta. I was able to into options > controls and change some of my settings, for instance switching toggle crouch to "c".I have heard people say that they weren't able to adjust their key binds though. Yes, it's a demanding game graphics-wise. No doubt about that.
  4. So, for those of you who are playing the BF3 beta, post your thoughts/reviews here so those who don't have it can get an idea of what they're getting in Oct. For me, here it is so far: Cons: the beta is a PITA. I've actually only been able to complete maybe four rounds (not even a whole game). Every other game I've joined I get a "server timed out" error before the game finishes. From the forums it seems this is a general problem. some of the settings controls are weird. for instance, the default is that ADS is your RMB, but you have to click and hold to keep aiming. the setting for making ADS one click is in a separate menu from the other combat controls. I can not find a way to get my clan tags to display...I can get them on my dogtags, but not showing in-game. The nice little clan tag feature of BFBC2 is gone. It might be me though, or it might just be the beta. Pros: The shitty hit registration from BFBC2 is no more. Rounds hit where you aim them. That was a big sore point for me from BFBC2. Sometimes I felt helpless in the game. I was just meat for other players. Not now. Even though the beta is softcore, one burst and an enemy goes down. Weapons feel and sound great. Weapons feel solid to me and the weapon recoil feels right too. Movement is better than BFBC2. It's still a "realistic" movement, but it doesn't feel as clunky as the earlier game. Feels smoother. When you jump over objects, you see your legs stick out in front of you as you clear the obstacle. Graphics are outstanding. Best I've ever seen in a game. Sound is good. Regular sound levels feel almost like the "war tapes" setting in BFBC2. The classes have been altered. Assault gives you a medic bag and Support (LMG) gives you ammo. Those are the two I've played so far, and the changes seem to make sense to me. Prone adds something different to the game. You are really going to have to employ some teamwork to get a guy who's dug himself into a corner and gone prone. The...anti-camping? system works for me. If you stay in a position too long a light appears over you...like you're looking at a flashlight being shined at you. It marks the person, but it isn't so obvious that it makes the person an easy target. In fact, it's easy to miss it if you're not paying attention. Verdict: for me... I'm all kinds of happy about this game so far. I was worried after BFBC2. I was so frustrated with that game that I stopped playing it. I am really looking forward to playing BF3. I can't wait till vehicles are added into the mix. IMO, this was a great investment. I'm stoked to get the XI server up and running.
  5. Rugger, my suggestion would be to start with a 32 slot conquest server. Conquest is probably the most played gametype, and 32 slots would give a good indication of popularity. Better to grow than to cut slots.
  6. I use the G13. Took a week or so to get used to. Easy to set up and program. I use the hat button as 4 more programmable buttons. It can be used as your WASD keys as well, but I found it made it hard to use the other keys...it was a bit too different from what I'm used to.
  7. I don't believe that decision has even been addressed yet.
  8. Here's some of the weapon customization loadouts. Looks like up to 24 weapons in each class. Lots of customization options. Arrgh. NM. Mock-ups. Not real.
  9. We added several new gametypes to the crouch server now that it is populated on a daily basis. Currently are running HQ, TDM, DOM and SAB. Just curious as to what the players thought so far. Any feedback on what is working, what isn't, would be appreciated. My view: TDM and DOM work well. HQ is a little tough with the spawns vs. time limits SAB only came up once when I was on, but it was a pretty epic fight.
  10. Thanks for doing this Sun. Went back to work this week and have been swamped. I remembered I had to do this about 10 this morning. lol
  11. Welcome to XI Chaz. Remember when given the chance, always shoot Pondscum and not ukildme. You get more points that way.
  12. Good luck Tball. Good chance that Pondscum and I will be gone for awhile as well; we live about 3 miles from each other. It's going to hit us Saturday night. I'm right on the line between hurricane and tropical storm warnings. Around here they are saying be prepared for no power for 3-7 days.
  13. Well, it had better be good, cause this game is where I'll be putting my money. And the executive producer of the game has said that mod tools are in the making, so hopefully this game will have a long life after the dlc's.
  14. Happy birthday rogue, from the invisible people in your computer.
  15. Happy B-day Dragon. Hopefully you had enough gas to get home and read this post.
  16. Agreed rugger. We had this discussion in the forum a few days ago... Reference topic and the consensus was to keep it as is. However, if we are looking at dropping maps, and are looking at keeping the server populated, the only maps we would drop would be the last DLC. That's the one where we lose players on the server. sometimes up to 50% of the players. If the decision were made to drop maps to encourage players to come to the server, the last DLC would be the one to go. Other than that, if players have made the decision not to buy the DLC's after the original, why would we punish the vastly greater number of players who did put out the cash. Dark Asylum, I understand your situation, I had to grit my teeth every time I pushed the "purchase" button on steam, but it's a choice you made and it has its consequences.
  17. Grrrrrrrr. I can understand not loading the last DLC, since that's where we seem to lose people, but not loading the other DLC's? We haven't dropped one player because of the first two map packs. I think this hurts a server that was doing well.
  18. Just the last map pack, lol.
  19. yeah. I didn't plan on suggesting a change right now, but figured I'd see what everyone thought. I hadn't taken it to the admin section yet, so we could get some input.
  20. So far the Crouch server is doing well. We've had over 100 visitors in the past two days. Today we averaged 8-12 players most of the day. We do see one situation arising however. Twice when we had the server full, or almost full, a map from the latest DLC came up. Both times we lost around 50% of the players in the server. Should we remove those maps temporarily? Just play on as is? Looking for suggestions.
  21. Well done sun. thanx. how are you doing the rotation? all maps? tdm?
