OK my 2 cents After 30 yrs... ive had many hdds fail outright regardless of age. I suggest googling the drive errors, (if u have them) assuring that you already had an idea of how full it became (supposed to leave 10% clear) Have u contacted the maker...usually they have a 5yr warranty. will aid in troubleshooting also. For what its worth I really dislike seagate, have best luck with WD u didnt say if it was a regular old spinning platter or a digital HDD - a SSD??? were there any noises? or anything unusual? like even perhaps new software???? Did u run any (have any) HDD utils? more info may help
