1 - Uninstall all existing drivers
2 - boot your windows in safe mode (by pressing F10, but might be another F key
3 - look in controllpannel if ALL nvidia-shit has effectively been removed (UNINSTALL PROGRAMS!!!!!)
4 - start windows, wich should startup normally now, but in 800 * 600 VGA mode, with the standard windows vga-driver. -DON NOT USE THE "Would you like Windows to find the appropriate driver vor you" ABORT the windows automatic setup process*
5 - now re-install latest NVIDIA driver
6 - Reboot....
Hope this is of any help, running NVidia since years, 580 GTX at this time, never had problem.
Sorry for the eventual bad translations, I'm running a french version of W7...
before i do that how can i be sure my pci slot is working properly. At no time have i had a "new hardware detected message" and if i do a device manger "new hardware search" nothing comes up. I have manually updated my pci list of shit in the device manager as well. Any more thought s would be great before i pull out what little hair i have left!!!!!!!!
