  1. Yes...I just did it again...and it gave me "+80" bonus points....but did not give me notification. So what does this mean? IS ther something I need to do on my end to fix this...or is this a problem with the installation of the mod on the server? I was not having this issue before all these problems started and the server was changed...I always received the notification of the kill streak.
  2. I am actually getting the kill streak...because I am able to immediately change into my car once I know I have 3 kills in a row...I just don't get the notification.
  3. One new issue I am having today is that I am not receiving the notifications that I have completed a kill streak when it happens. I do not get the "RC XD ready for deployment" right after 3 kills.....or any other kill streak. I am getting the notification at the end of a round, if it goes into overtime, and I am frozen when that happens. Very strange.
  4. I increased my max packets to 100 yesterday, and noticed a significant improvement for the first hour I was playing....then it seemed like the intermittent CIs started happening again. Overall, I was still noticing a big improvement in the continual "smoothness" of how the game was running after the max packets increase....but would still get sudden bursts of red spikes on my connection meter...and then suddenly the thing would go solid yellow, and my entire screen would freeze for about 5-10 seconds....sometimes I would come back frozen....other times, I wouldn't come back until the beginning of a new round. I have a 100 MB/Sec internet connection, and I can download an HD movie off of iTunes in about 2 minutes....so I know it is not my connection.
  5. Just wondering....is the current server for MW2 Freezetag (192.223.24.212:28960) the new permanent server that was supposed to correct all the lag that was going on? Because if it is, I am still having major lag issues (as were most of the people I was playing with earlier today. If not, then never-mind....but do we have any idea yet when this will be fixed? If the issue is that we have problems related to people attacking our servers with DDOS attacks...then maybe we need to make some of the servers "member only" and just give out the ip address to XI members. Just my 2 cents...I am no computer guru...so maybe there is a better solution...but it seems that most of the time...when this particular server is working well...it is usually full ....with admins needing to boot non-members anyway to make room for members. Peace out.
  6. It's called the Free Market....something that this country has not embraced for quite some time. I suggest people read this article: http://mises.org/daily/2130 Additionally, here are just a few good reasons why raising the minimum wage is a bad idea...poached from an article on Reason.com 1. It’s a big country. The costs of living, especially housing, vary widely in America from state to state and city to city. If the point of raising the minimum wage is to provide a “living wage,” why should the minimum wage in low-cost areas such as Texas or Oklahoma be the same as in high-cost areas such as San Francisco or Manhattan? 2. The states are already taking care of it. Twenty states and the District of Columbia already have minimum wages higher than the current federal minimum of $7.25 an hour. 3. Private industry and the free market are already taking care of it. Even low-skill, entry level positions in many areas already pay higher than minimum wage. 4. As an anti-poverty tool, it is a blunt instrument. A post by David Henderson cited by the chairman of the Harvard Economics Department, Greg Mankiw, points out that a lot of minimum wage earners are second or third-job holders in households with other income. That could include a teenage summer employee whose parents both have jobs. Other minimum wage workers may include retirees with income from savings and Social Security who own their homes mortgage-free. 5. It’s not clear that it’s constitutional. The Supreme Court, in its opinion in the 1923 case Adkins v. Children’s Hospital of District of Columbia, made a strong argument that a minimum wage was a violation of the constitutionally guaranteed freedom of contract embedded in the Fifth Amendment’s language about due process and the deprivation of liberty and property: “To the extent that the sum fixed exceeds the fair value of the services rendered, it amounts to a compulsory exaction from the employer for the support of a partially indigent person, for whose condition there rests upon him no peculiar responsibility, and therefore, in effect, arbitrarily shifts to his shoulders a burden which, if it belongs to anybody, belongs to society as a whole.” The Court later, in the 1937 case West Coast Hotel v. Parrish, reversed Adkins by a five to four margin. But maybe the court was right the first time around. 6. Even if the freedom of contract isn’t protected by the Constitution, it’s a natural right that should not be infringed. As President Kennedy put it in his inaugural address, “the rights of man come not from the generosity of the state but from the hand of God.” If two free people want to enter into a voluntary, consensual agreement that doesn’t infringe on anyone else’s rights, why should the government stop them? If someone wants to work for $5 an hour, and someone wants to hire that person for that much, and no one is forcing either one of them to enter into the agreement, by what authority does government step in and stop them? 7. It would eliminate jobs. Ordering businesses to pay entry-level workers more will make them hire fewer of them, and consider replacing more workers with robots or computers. That’s good if you are in the robot or computer business, but not so good if you are trying to combat unemployment. The nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office estimated that President Obama’s proposed $10.10 wage, once fully implemented, “would reduce total employment by about 500,000 workers.” 8. It would reduce the incentive for low-wage workers to get an education and move up to a higher-paying job. The lower the minimum wage, the more eager a minimum wage worker would be to enroll in a community college course at night, improve his or her skills, and apply for a higher-paying job. Making the entry-level jobs higher paying increases the risk that workers will get stuck in them for longer instead of moving on to something more rewarding. 9. It’s a sneaky way to increase welfare spending and raise taxes. Raising taxes to spend more on welfare is a political loser. But raising the minimum wage puts money in the pockets of working poor people, at the expense of business owners (and of consumers who would pay in the form of higher prices). If politicians want to increase the earned income tax credit or other work-related welfare benefits, they should do the hard work of building political support for such policies, rather than choosing the roundabout approach of a minimum wage increase.
  7. Ok....that was pretty fucking awesome.
  8. I just left this server...my ping was about the same as it usually is...110 or so...but players were lagging all over the map....teleporting right before your eyes to a spot 10 feet in front of where they just were.
  9. Do you actually own one, or are you just providing an opinion based on nothing other than what your own preconceived notion of "too much money" is? My wife could be asking me to buy her a new BMW or Lexus, so I see this as good deal, as long as she will actually be happy with it. I can buy a 2012 Mini that is fully loaded and with very low miles for around $20k.
  10. Well, my oldest daughter is about to turn 16 and inherit my wife's car....so the wife has decided that she wants a Mini Cooper S. I was curious if any Mini owners in this clan could give me their opinions of their vehicles? She wants the hard-top hatch back....i.e. the standard body style. I will probably buy her a 2012...I always prefer to let some other sucker take the first couple years hit of depreciation on vehicles. Thanks for any input.
  11. This is simply another example of the Nanny States of Amerika and over-reaching government run amok. There are hundreds of these examples every week, and I weep for the future of our country if we don't do something about it soon.
  12. Ok, I just tried to watch a music video on YouTube...and it was like I was only hearing part of the audio track rally loud...with the vocals very soft and some other music sounded like it was missing. Thought that info might help diagnose what is going on. It is like my audio manager is selectively muting or removing sound from what I am able to hear.
  13. Hey guys...I have a regualr headset (mic and speaker inputs...not usb). This morning, for some reason when I logged on to my pc, the Realtek HD sound program popped up as if I had just plugged in a new device to the back audio inputs of my pc tower. I hadn't done that...but nevertheless, I checked the inputs on the back...they were correct, and I clicked ok. I then open my COD 4 program. Usually when I have the first screen open, as I move the cursor across the selections...there is a sound effect of a little clicking sound...but not this time. I am hearing the music play though. I log on to the XI freezetag server...and when I get in the game...all of the game sounds are plenty loud....the explosions, other sound effects..etc...but I can only very faintly hear the team player chat. I turn the volume up all the way on my pc and my headset...still can't really hear what people are saying...but can defintely hear that they are talking. I asked for a mic check, but couldn't really hear anyone respond that they could hear me. When I depress my chat button, my name appears on the screen...so I know the signal is going through, but I don't think the audio was. So I decided to uninstall the Realtek Audio manager, and then download the latest copy with the most recent drivers. I do that...restart my computer after uninstalling and then restart again after re-installing the latest copy of the program. When I plug in my headset after the reinstall...it recognizes each input (mic...then headphones). I open COD 4 and again the same issue persists...no clicky sounds when moving cursor...and still cannot hear chat...and they can't hear me. When I open the Realtek audio manager....and I try to test the sound....if I click on the left speaker to test the sound I hear it in both ears....same thing on the right. I used to be able to test each side separately. I am completely baffled as to why this happend and what I can do to fix it. Any thoughts from anybody out there?
  14. That's why I never leave home without it. And no, that's not my actual card....I'm not a COMPLETE idiot.
  15. So basically they are taking the Battlefield game engine and making a Grand Theft Auto knock off? Very creative...NOT.
  16. The vast majority of gun deaths in this country are from suicide, or are due to criminals killing other criminals.
  17. I recommend to anyone that has the inclination, to read the book by F.A.Hyek titled "The Road to Serfdom"....but if you don't have the time, here is the comic book version. http://www.zerohedge.com/news/2014-06-05/road-serfdom-cartoons Seems eerily similar to the path we are headed down in this country, IMO.
  18. But how was this latest shooting possible in Seattle? It was on a college campus ...which here in WA, is a "gun free zone". I didn't think random shootings perpetrated by crazy people were possible in "gun free zones". [sarcasm]
  19. This is a little off topic, and probably a dumb question, but is there any way to increase the number of slots on this server above 33?...to say 40?
