Activated. Spent about 35 minutes on the phone w/MS, including allowing a remote assistant look over my system. Bryan was cool, told him to go ahead, nothing was on this machine yet, lol. Handed over the key to win10, but he said it had expired, no go. KC, never had to flash bios yet. Unless an upgrade is absolutely necessary, don't plan on trying. This thing is running fine, so off we go reloading games.

We'll, I reloaded win7 64bit. Gonna call MS & see if they will offer me a key, before I load all the drivers. Sucks, but it's their game.

Agreed Magnus, booted w/knoppix (spelled it wrong earlier) and would love to build a kernel and make Linux my main operating system. But, I wanna kill people on WAW, and Linux isn't useful for 3rd person shooters.

On the plus side, new build fired right up & everything worked perfectly. Only error was having to go into bios to reset date & time. Kloppix booted her up, got on the internet immediately, saved everything off the old drive, good to go. Booted into Win7 32bit, chipset wasn't recognized, no internet, no ethernet drivers, heck with that. Did a clean install of Win7 64 bit, installed drivers, and was off and rolling. Typed in my key (oem) no good. Pulled out my copy of win 10 (w/key) operating system has expired, use repair disk or usb rescue. Living & learning. Can't reuse an oem key on a new motherboard, and oem versions of windows can't be used to change versions (win7 32 pro to win7 64 pro). If you did install win10 from their upgrade offer, it ain't going onto a new build, at least not w/out juggling dates & times in BIOS. Looks like purchasing a new key is my option for today.

Arrived, it was G.Skill Sniper memory, not razor. Perfect rainy day to assemble and boot a new toy.

Going to walk Fedex in, they couldn't find my address. Had this problem 10 years ago when we built the house. Mapquest put us in the middle of a cornfield, north of town. Google maps now has it right, but Fedex has changed distribution centers to one by Peoria. Driver went right by and tagged parcel "undeliverable". Wouldn't allow me to update directions because I wasn't the shipper. Nice, technology is SUCH a timesaver. Happy St.Patricks day! A Guinness & Ruben sandwich sound good for this Brophy.

Don't HAVE to, I can run win7 pro 64 until death parts us. Downloaded 10 when it was free, just never installed it on anything. This rig isn't going to be killer, just a stop gap. Need to clear off my big desk for the Waco YMF-5 rc project. Summer will be here shortly, & I want to be flying.

Going through massive withdrawl pain, my old Opteron 939 board refused to post. No error codes, no beeps, just power switch on & fans spinning. Swapped out video card, memory, processor, new cmos battery, checked power supply, nothing. No WAW or COD4 for me. Been months since I killed Spinpuppy. Couldn't decide what to build, gave up & ordered a TA970 Biostar mb & vishera six-core fx-6300 w/16g of razor memory from Newegg. Pieces should arrive today, probably boot up under win7 64 and copy a bunch of crap off the old 1tb hard drive before I wipe it for win10. Thought playing COD2 would keep me content for awhile, but I miss throwing sticky nades on Barnes' tanks & RPG blasting Larsin as he runs by.
