Well sorry to hear that Glam rock was also called Glitter rock, hope it was'nt named after Gary Glitter, (never heard that before) Gary Glitter is a convicted paedophile and no radio station in the UK has played any of his songs for years now, going back to Marc Bolan, yes he was big in the Glam rock days but when he actually started making hits in the late 60's Glam rock was unheard of, it probably started in 1972/73, a lot of the groups who played under this mantel were just created especially for it, T-REX and Slade were 2 bands that were head and shoulders above the rest as i mentioned both were making hits before the genre and really just got caught up in the whole thing, Slade were actually a great rock band often underestimated and for anyone who has never saw it check out the movie "Slade in Flame" one of the greatest movies about a rock band ever. Maybe i should mention that David Bowie was also labelled at one point as being a Glam Rocker (forgot about that) but Bowies music also was far too good to be labelled with some of the other crap out at the time.
