When I try to flash the BIOS (in M-Flash screen) the directory shows the USB but the only file showing up is the SYSTEM VOLUME INFORMATION dated from whenever I format the USB. The BIOS screen is MSI although this particular rig was built by ABS. I've tried several different USB drives of different ages, from 8GB up which were all formatted to FAT32. I've tried formatting them to 4096 bytes as suggested in some forums. The file itself is correct and downloaded directly from MSI. I've tried various ways of getting the file into onto the USB like copy/paste, directly unzipping, etc. I will be trying ABS support directly tomorrow but one of you genius nerds may have an answer. 😉

I've never had any problems flashing a BIOS so any help would be appreciated.

What motherboard model# are you working with? What is your current bios version and what version are you upgrading to? I:m assuming its an msi motherboard since you're using mflash?

The only thing significant I can find which you probably already saw googling is   ~plug it into the middle-row rear USB ports~    ~place it in the root of the flash drive~

You already formatted to fat32. I haven't checked but If the upgrade is going up multiple versions there could be an upgrade path you must follow. If all of this checks out already I would contact support if you have it. There may be a goofy bug or work around you are unaware of etc.

Can you update firmware separately on that board? It might be that the firmware needs to be up to date to recognise a new version of bios
