Thanks Ted.  My son is in the Navy and after graduating boot camp, him and a few friends went into Chicago.  While walking down the street they were approached by some young kids who called them "Baby Killers" and spit at them.  During boot camp they were taught to expect this type of reaction from a few people.  On of my sons shipmates went after them and my son had to pull him back.  If they would have kicked the kids asses they would have been in hot water.  While the attitude towards military men and women has changed for the better, there are still dumb asses who, just dont get it.  The freedom these jerks have is because of our troops and the sacrifice they make or made.

Very moving. Thanks Ted!

About 30 years after Vietnam I spotted some vets in a mall; they were with an organization I wasn't famliar with so I stopped and we chatted for a bit. As I was leaving, one shook my hand and said, "Welcome home."

It was the first time anyone had ever said that to me and I can't begin to describe the impact that it had - then, and even now as I write this.

Anytime and every time you see someone in uniform, or become aware of someone who served, please thank them for that service. They can't hear it often enough. And trust me, it will make you feel good about yourself.

I know we are across the pond, but our forces are losing ppl every week in Afghanistan, take last week the rocket fire killing 3 by a radical muslim serving in the Afghan Forces in our own base, Coward.

also the Radical Muslims in our country are free to put our forces down left right and centre, so wrong.

For myself, I am immensly proud and privileged to know theys men and women fight and die, and try to maintain the peace and improve our peoples lives, whether they believe it or not.

God Bless Her Majesties Forces, and those who stand beside them.

Everytime I see a solder I will go up and shake their had and thank them. I was never in a war but have been a disable vet since my 18th birthday. I went in right after my 17th and was honorably discharged on my 18th birthday. The next day my father brought me to the VA and I got service connected disability. Army 5/3/77 to 4/25/78

Thanks for that TED

I, too, have a service-connected disability but unfortunately, I never filed a claim on it. It's a back injury that keeps getting worse. I'd like to say it occurred as I was jumping out of a Huey, but in fact it results from falling down the fire escape, drunk on my ass, at McConnell AFB in Wichita.
