cod 4

just looking for some help with cod4, i bought a new drive and moved every thing over..   i have a digital steam key for cod4 installed the game but i cannot make any changes to resolution or refresh rate for my screen. actually cant even join a server it keeps freezing my comp.. anyone have any suggestions? i have tried every thing.

you may need to change  game version  not sure if is 1.7  XI uses but Steam uses another version not match XI   other under what OS using ? 

are you on TS (teamspeak) for talk through, PM me if want to go that route.

if new system the hardware not match current system  for old drive has old system hardware may be the issue.

if so  copy your old profile on a flash stick  C:\Program Files (x86)\Activision\Call of Duty - Modern Warfare\profiles and your nickname folder to keep your rank.

other  know your new system drivers are current and graphics card/chip. (Note: motherboard site check if they have a updater app will be easyier)  update those before reinstall game

Best way to solve this is by installing the CoD4X Patch

CoD4X is a patch for Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare that improves the game's functionality and adds new features. To install the CoD4X patch, follow these steps:

Extract the "cod4x_client_21_1.zip" archive and copy the "cod4-client-manualinstall_21.1" folder to your CoD4 directory.

Go into the extracted "cod4-client-manualinstall_21.1" folder and run "install.cmd".

Launch CoD4 and it will automatically update the CoD4X client.

 

If you want to change your game config in the future such as making a backup or switching with another profile, go to this path: C:\Users\YourUsername\AppData\Local\CallofDuty4MW\players

If you're still having issues... I have run into this issue before, after migrating to a new system drive. Try right-clicking on the shortcut, select "run as administrator", and accept the UAC dialog. If you are able to get into game, then it would most likely be a folder permissions issue that would need to be fixed.

correct when install game run as admin for each update also by right-click mouse and select run as admin for each     .EXE
