It would have been nice for them to include more than a 4 page pile of crap for a players guide with the game. I'm almost prestige 2 and I haven't figured out the B52 bombing thing because I have only had the killstreak reward twice, and the last time I completely obliterated my entire team including myself and got kicked/banned off the server for it. I don't know if I'm laying down the take off runway or the bombing path or what but I put it on the other side of the map and still made an ass of myself

DEEJAYKEG Primalfear, as you say if it isn't the way the game has been coded that is causing the many thousands of us to have enduring problems, you clearly have a better idea as to what the problem could be? I agree with SOB's view that assuming a problem is being caused by a system running the program is entirely erroneous when that system exceeds the published minimum specs, has up to date drivers and, in the case here, one of Intel's most recent and most powerful quad core processors (for which the game was supposedly optimised by the first disastrous patch). Your assertion that it is a Radeon problem specifically doesn't hold water when there are benchmark test results on the web showing comparative performance scores. If ATI cards could not run the game properly, the testing could not have occurred (I have seen no mention of Radeons falling over at the high resolutions and settings used for these tests, either). It isn't acceptable to release a game for the PC market that is so poorly coded that it won't run properly on thousands of machines and then to dismiss valid customer criticisms with ridiculous advice such as to turn off ones antivirus. If the game won't run properly alongside a massively popular security suite with a special gaming mode, it hasn't been tested properly. I remain convinced that CoD BO has a memory leak as the freeze-ups are so regular and predictable. Similar quantities of resources are being eaten away every session. Imagine a toilet that is never flushed - eventually it fills up and overflows and has us crying "Shit!" again... Deejay what I am suggesting is that if you have 31,000 players online playing the game with no problems, the game itself is not the only factor. My mention of Radeon issues is only related to the fact that if you look at page one and two of this thread the people having problems also have Radeon cards, which could be a coincidence, but we do know that in terms of performance Nvidia and Intel have the market cornered, and has for quite some time now. There are plenty of Radeon cards that will outperform my Nvidia card however, as I stated it is old and outdated, and yet I have no issues with performance at all. With regard to the antivirus issue, there are entire programs (not just games) that won't even install properly with a virus program up and running, and some can not be installed at all. Many times I have had to completely uninstall Commodo or Avast antivirus to get programs to run and this is the fault of the virus program not the program being installed. Virus programs eat your resources and completely shut down some functions of the OS, as Hardcore pointed out this includes ports or or even other resources or conflicts with resources (like directx), a program that is optimized for multicore, or in this case, "requires" multicore is going to be even more reliant on those resources being available. In terms of coding, how do you code out a third party resource hog, like a virus program or windows vista? There are also firewall issues that is simply impossible to code out. In terms of a memory leak, I can tell you this, you are on my friends list Deejay if you look at any time day or night you will see that I am online 24/7 in Black Ops. I leave it on literally all the time, during the day my son will use the computer for learning and my wife will use it in the evening for websurfing, I simply alt+tab at night and jump right into a game, again with no problems. If there was a memory leak, would this be possible? I don't think it would, but I suppose I could be wrong. I play for a few hours and then my son will simply alt+tab the next morning and the whole process repeats itself with no need for a reboot or need to re-open the game. Logic would dictate to me that if anyone having problems were to build the same system I have, they would also have no problems at all. I am not suggesting anyone should do this, but I posted everything I did and my hardware specs for people to compare the circumstances in hope that people will be able to figure out what their problem is, at the same time I am suggesting blame should not be placed on the game itself as a first resort. Weigh all factors, completely uninstall antivirus and firewall, update drivers, shut down un-needed resources, edit the config file, consider the hardware performance, and read what others have done to correct their problems. Whatever it is that is causing some people to have problems, there is an answer. To many people are playing the game with minimal issues to just blame the game. I am not saying the entire system is perfect, it certainly isn't, but I am expecting this game will receive multiple "Game of the Year" awards, it's really that good. The answer is there and I believe it can be found.

Hey thanx for adding this Cheese quite a few people are having problems and anything can help, I totally forgot that if you delete the config it makes a new one right away. We used to do this all the time in RTCW when stuff got messed up......Good post dude

Ruggerxi This is now open, its TDM since there will be more people in the server now and its already hard to play FFA with only 18 players with all the spawn killing. Give it a try and leave some feedback so I can fix it up Yes its hardcore Good choice, hardcore is the way to go, I played on some softcore servers and it was very frustrating. People wouldn't die without using an assault rifle and the bunny hopping crap was back. In hardcore let em bunny hop all they want, their dead before they hit the ground Softcore is like trying to kill somebody with a paintball gun. Add a flak jacket to the mix and it's even more rediculous. I didn't find it fun at all. I'm interested in ranking up first and completing the challenges and pro perks, but I think having one unranked will set us up good for running mods, although I do like other gametypes besides TDM where there is an objective to achieve to promote movement, I played in the ranked TDM server yesterday and people just sitting in windows waiting for somebody to walk by instead of seeking out the enemy, I ended up with alot of knife kills as a result, which was pretty funny, but I really prefer more chaos then that personally, I've had alot of fun with Cheese, Tsu, Pink, 2ManyBeers, Deerjon and I think Hardcore and many others in the CTF server though and I think that's the server that got switched to unranked, is TDM what most people prefer? Well either way - nice addition thank you for the extra option, and I do like the idea of more than 18 people in a server, especially with a clan of this size, 18 is a bit to low IMO.

I can say it's not the game, simply because if it was the game everyone would have the same problem and we don't, in fact I have none. I bought the game on opening night at 12:01am, got home loaded it up and tried multiplayer right away. Lag spikes/packet loss made the game unplayable. A couple days later I read the forums here and went into my config file and changed multithread=0 to 1 and multigpu=1 to 0 and re-installed direct-x off the cd. Loaded back in and boom, all problems are completely gone. This was prior to the first patch and now we have had two and I didn't need either one. The game is completely silky smooth and beutiful and by far the best FPS gaming experience I have ever had. I have had an occasional server crash, but it kicked everybody not just me (so thats the server). I have also found that the in-game steam engine is a little buggy, sometimes the freinds list options to join or invite doesn't seem to work right, and sometimes it takes a few extra seconds to "download game settings" or "fetching stats". And I find it annoying that I can't find all servers at all times. All that said, I'm sorry people are having some problems but I can tell you that except for a few steam buggy things here and there the game itself is perfect, I couldn't be happier with the gameplay. I agree you shouldn't have to change the config file yourself it should auto-detect and that was crap, but an easy fix. Secondly, most of the complaints I have heard so far are from people running Radeon instead of NVidia and I can only hope that they are not also running AMD machines as I am convinced AMD/ATI gaming days are over, and have been for some time. I would HIGHLY recommend making those changes in your config files and put some pressure on your ATI guys to get their crap drivers right. This is my system and like I said this game is perfect there is nothing wrong with it for me, and my video card is old and outdated btw. (ALWAYS) Intel Q6600 Quad Core (2.4ghz) (not overclocked) 4GB DDR3 Ballistic Ram (8-8-8-24 timing) (OLD ASS) Nvidia 8800 GTS (OC'd with a G92 core competes with a 9800pro and that helps but still old and outdated) SATA HD and DVD-Burner OS Win7 64bit As a side note I NEVER play on a server with a ping above 150ms and below 100ms is preferred. Hardware or Software Conflict or config file or Radeon paper weight, whatever the problem is I hope everyone having problems is able to get it sorted out but it's not the game. Start with that config file change seriously.

I finally found one of the XI servers, using the "add friends" option in the game menu I can invite you to the server and then you can add it to your favorites. I have only found one server so far "XI Ranked Server 2". EDIT have server 1 and 2 now Send me a friend invite or X-Fire me and I'll piggyback anyone that wants to add the server. Steam = PrimalFearr X-Fire = ssprimalfear I fixed it, should work now

So they do have dedicated servers but only if you get your server specifically from www.gameservers.com they have exclusive rights to the game and other server companies are not an option. If you want a dedicated server for XI you have to get it from gameservers.com or you don't get a server?? I don't wanna sound negative on this but I have a few red flags going up and I do really want this game. (Frontlines "Fuel of War" and Call of Duty combined sounds amazing). But a server monopoly doesn't sound to good to me at first glance. We got the MRI results back this morning and the doctors are baffled. Her tumor has not grown at all!!! This is usually a very fast growing and rare type of tumor and yet there has been zero growth. It has been over 2 months now and they said that they are absolutely "baffled". They said that they have never seen this happen before with any DIPG patient ever. They want to know everything that she has been doing, they want to know what her diet is and what she has been exposed to. They told us that everything that we have been doing, to keep doing it. They are conducting a "Stage One Research Study" (I have no idea what that means, I don't know crap about medical stuff) and people are coming to Portland from Philadelphia, PA and the "New England Journal of Medicine", they want every bit of information they can get. To everyone that has been praying for her, thank you and ask if you could continue to do so. Our prayers have shifted slightly to thankfulness. We are not out of the woods and we know that, but we are thankful and hopeful and tears of happiness are much better than the other kind lol Thanks all for everything!

My wife and I have read all the comments posted here as well as the pm's that were sent and we wanted you to know that you helped us get out some of what we were having trouble with, we were both in a kind of emotional vaporlock with a feeling of total loss and there really wasn't much left for us to say about it, but it still felt like something was still unsaid and we both knew it and it was quite cleansing for us to get that out and try to make at least some partial sense of it. Hope you know that I mean. We would both would like to thank each of you for your kind words, thoughtful advice and insight, as well as taking the time to share with us some of your own hardships and how hard they were/are and how you dealt/dealing with them. Funny to think that with all the people we have available to us, it was you guys that opened the floodgates of reality and emotional cleansing. I know this a gaming community and not a support group but your friendship comes shining through with nothing but support in times of need, I'm proud to be part of this group. I believe I have at least some direction as to how I will approach this when that dreaded day comes. Some of it should have been blatently obvious to me, but it wasn't and I was unable to put it into perspective or focus on any type of direction. I guess it's all part of the shock of such an awful reality. I have been doing alot of thinking about all this and while it still isn't "easy" to deal with, it makes abit more sense as to what I have to do. So what is happening now...... Faber got to play with Juliett yesterday and they're still "two peas in a pod", Juliett's parents are taking her to the "Radon Mines" in Montana as a final attempt to try anything to shrink the tumor in her head. They left today and will be gone a week. "The Make a Wish Foundation" has approved funding for Juliett to go to Disneyland in California instead of DisneyWorld in Florida because of complications with health, distance and time. She is starting to show more symtoms and difficulties, they were really bad yesterday. but she is showered with constant love and attention from family and is busy having as much fun as possible every waking moment. Thanks again for everything, your good friends.

Should you ever need to access the files or back them up so you don't lose your profile they are in C:\Documents and Settings\(user name)\Local Settings\Application Data\Activision\CoDWaW for XP and AppData\Local Data\Activision\CoDWaW\ for Vista. I don't know where it would be for windows7 yet. Grats on the new game, I love it

Ok I'm gonna try to get through this, those of you that were on the server the day after fathers day already know some of what is happening in my life. First the good news, on April 17th my wife gave birth to our second son, he was 8lbs 6oz healthy and perfect and everything works. He is now 2 months old but I just now got around to uploading the pictures from the camera. His name is Xander Me my wife and my son My 4yr old son Faber holding the baby Another one of me and my son Ok now the bad news, this is the hard part. The day before father's day my wife was watching my kids and our niece, my wife noticed my niece was acting like she was drunk. She was walking into walls and didn't feel good. She called my niece's dad and he said she has been doing this lately when she was tired. That night my wife logged onto webmd.com and put in the symtoms. Came back with inner ear infection or a brain tumor or severe emotional distress. She relayed this info and on father's day she seemed to have gotten worse. They took her to the emergency room and did a catscan. Sure enough, at 4yrs old she has a brain tumor. So they transferred her by ambulance to Doernbecher Children's Hospital in Portland, Oregon as a precaution and told us not to worry until it was evaluated. They told us that they would have to determine what type of surgery was needed and how much if any brain matter would have to be removed and we could go from there. (Happy Father's Day Right?). They took her in and scheduled an MRI for the following day. We were waiting by the phone as they wouldn't allow visitors yet. Monday afternoon we get our results back and they call us and tell us that she has a very rare type of brain tumor located at the "Base of the Brain". Ok so what do we need to do to get her through this? They explain that this type of tumor is "in-operable", they explain that every child that has ever had this type of tumor did not survive the operation, zero percent success rate. Ok, so do we need to go with kemo then? No, they explain that there is nothing that can be done and my little niece has 3-6 months to live. This was being relayed to me while on the server and that's why I lost it, I know Shadowlady, Greywolf and Magical and a few others heard all this. Now I don't usually go posting this type of stuff but because of the questions and concern I know you guys really care about me and my family so I'm taking the time to explain all this crap. I'm the strong one in my family, I generally don't cry at funerals, I know my parents and the rest of my grandparents will die and I understand it and except it, that's just the way of things. My family is able to cry on my shoulder and I do what I can to help them through it and I deal with it within my own mind. This one is different, it's an overwhelming shock of disbelief that this is happening, I was there in the hospital shortly after she was born and with her being 9 months older than my son walking late, while my son walked early they were toddling around together and I have watched her grow alongside my son. Her and my son are in separable in a way I can't begin to discribe, they are more like brother and sister than cousins and they are always together. The pictures will show that. Ok, so here is where I turn into a blubberbag, sorry in advance. So I get past my own loss and helping my family through this tough time is hard enough. But somebody tell me how in the HELL am I gonna look at my son's little face and explain to him that Juliette went to sleep and didn't wake up and he will never see her again. If anybody can tell me how the HELL I'm gonna do that I would appreciate it, send it in a pm if you don't like sharing your feelings, cause I don't know what I'm gonna do. They are both 4yrs old and they have no idea what death is, they also have no idea that this is happening, nor do they know that everytime they see each other maybe the last time, they just play and hug and laugh and share and talk and have fun. Seeing all this and knowing what I know is what is tearing me apart, it really rips your guts out. Ok, so thats my sob story, originally I thought I'd be leaving XI again for awhile because of this, but there has been just the opposite effect. I think XI is the only thing that gives me a mental release I am a very family oriented man, so everything includes them, except this community. Thanks for the laughs and the support. Everybody goes through some tough times and I guess it's just my turn and you guys make it abit easier. Everybody is hugging and crying and breaking down. Faber and Juliett don't understand why everybody is sad and crying thier eyes out, when they are happy to see everbody. Innocense is bliss. That's the face I have to look at while I explain his best friend in the whole world is gone. The Zoo Faber and Juliett I've got over 2,000 pictures of these two together since birth, so I'll stop now. We will enjoy spending time with her as we always have and try to ignore the black cloud, she had a shunt (tube) installed in the back of her head to help release pressure from the brain, they tell us she might get another 2 months of life by having it. She has been put at the top of the list by the "Make a Wish Foundation" and they are sending her and her parents to Walt Disney World Florida all expenses paid. Filling her life with joy has always been fun and she has filled ours as well. As the tumor grows in her little head she will begin to lose some motor functions, they tell us she will probably lose her ability to move her eyes, she will become more and more weak and will sleep more and more, upto 20hrs a day. One day she will goto sleep and not wake up, she will die peacefully and will not feel any pain. For this I am greatful. I am not ready to let her go and I'm not ready to face him when that day is forced on me. And I have a really hard time holding it together at times. So thats the whole story thanks for reading it. I recently watched Alex (Seph) run into a room while getting shot, knife a guy who was already frozen, bunny hopped missed the guy that was reloading and jumping himself, twice before finally getting shot, it was like a live comic strip I lmao it was great. A knife in the face while under fire is always good for a laugh (especially when it lands) and think it would make a good montage

Thanks for the info on the new driver I'll check that out. What OS are you running? Are you running xfire when it happens? I get this same message when I get kicked and also the one "resource cycled out" but only when I forget to turn off xfire in cod4, it does not do it in cod1 cod2 or cod-uo. And does not happen when xfire is off. Sunday in our freezetag tourney, I had to ask Shadowlady to hold up the match after she restarted the server for the match and everybody's clothes turned bright white and my gun started auto-reloading when it was already loaded. (forgot to turn it off). Once in battleship map, whole screen went black and everybody turned bright red! (took a video of that one and offered it to xfire with no response) I still have 32bit xp and I have read that it happens with lots of people with the xfire, nvidia, 32bit combination in CoD4. But it usually happens to me when the map changes or server restarts, if I get past that point it's fine until the next map.

I know the boss already spoke on this issue, but I'll share my opinion anyway. If the other clan is team stacking by waiting for the next map and then purposely waiting for every other person just to be on the same team, and then they play together and are willing to cross the map just to defrost each other but are neglecting to defrost other team players and then running the server by playing as an organized team against abunch of people just thrown into the other team together (like AK clan did before they got banned) that is a problem because it makes the server not fun for anyone. And people start leaving, some of them newcomers that may not come back. AK clan was literally running us out of our server day after day by doing this crap, it was not fun at all so we just left and went somewhere else. I was getting xfires on it while I was playing another game. It was absolutely a major topic of discussion by several of our members and they didn't like it one bit, and I agreed with them and could see their point. Clearly PSI has been around for a long time and they are not doing this, I belong to thier forums and have played with them on their servers and ours. They are cool guys and if they stack themselves on the same team once in awhile, they will still defrost everyone and will except you as one of their own while your on their team. That is not a problem in my opinion and does not take away from the fun of others. So that's the difference as I see it and have no problem with this group. Again just my opinion

BudSrXI look what happend to BFBC2 they have dedicated severs but no mods. i will hold till i see what happens. I didn't know they didn't have mods in this game and really intended on getting it. My opinion is mods are what really makes a game fun, cod4 would suck if all we had was the stock maps, guns and game types. I'll have to reconcider this now.
