GorillaXI CplMOFO Gorilla: Did you just bought the 5770 or you carried it over from the previous rig? I Fuerza: I also had a Athlon 64 3400+ back in 2004. It was a really great CPU back in the day! I remember forking $429 CDN for that CPU when it came out. The A64s were kicking Intel's butt back then! It's the same card I've had for about the past year or so. Gorilla, the reason I ask, is that this HD5770 is equivalent to a GTX260...so, that being said, the day you wanna upgrade, a HD6950 would be a good upgrade, if you're willing to stick to AMD/ATI...The 6950, I'd look for a 2GB version of course, would be a LOT more powerful, pretty much 2.5 times.... I guess it depends on the game you play. In COD games, a 5770 is probably really good. In Crysis and stuff, well, you need more power, unless you drop the settings to medium I guess... but give a kick-ass medal to this guy!!!!

Widow, You can grab parts to build a good PC for $1200-$1500. iFuerza speak the truth with his bottlenecking stories and shyte. AMD is phasing out their 1090T and 1100T 6 cores PHENOM II to make room for the Zambezi 8cores (codenamed BULLDOZER) There will be a lot of deals on AMD (if you're strapped for cash BAD). They're equivalent to the Intel's last generation Q9550 and Q9650... If you fork only a little more, the Intel Sandy bridge 2500K is where it's at price/performance. Of course, the 2600K is a little better for encoding, but for gaming, the 2500K is more than fine! and you can put the $100 difference on more graphics power, a 64GB SSD boot drive, or a kick-ass aftermarket cooler to Overclock your new CPU...

Nice! What's the model number of your ASUS motherboard? That could be seen on the box easy. Those 6 cores Phenom IIs are really aggressively priced. That takes care of CPU-bound games for quite a bit! I see a Raid O array for storage and 16Gb of RAM...good stuff.

Back in the day where I was a Corporal in the Canadian military, my bosses were calling me corporal...that's how it is... My buddies were calling me a motherfucker....cause of my dry sense of humor/nagging people AND I was dating my wife, she's older than me and already had a teenager...she was a mother...I was and still am a MOFO... That was how I was called...either Corporal or MOFO....hence the CplMOFO! I've been gaming under my nick since 2004 in Far Cry, Quake4, COD4, COD5, BFBC2 and COD: BlackOps...

BIG NO NO on the RAM!!!!!! Sandy bridge needs RAM that runs at 1.5Volts for max compatibility and reliability... And it has to be a dual-channel kit (the 6gig and 12Gb triple stick kits are not for sandy...) so 1.5V is where it's at.... -Gskill RIPJAWS X 1.5V or -corsair Vengeance LOW PROFILE (the high profile ones interfere with some aftermarket AIR cooling... Mushkin Blackline Frostbyte is running at 1.5V also....I had good luck with Mushkin in the past... and I would add a Hard drive of at least 1TB capacity...for your storage!!!! You should keep win7 and your 3-4 favorite games on the SSD, and the old shyte on the HDD... +1 on nightmare's advice!!! you need a CPU cooler of better quality than stock... Noctua is great...NH-U12P or NH-d!4 behemoth coolermaster V8 Antec 920 Watercooler seems wild. Corsair H80 watercooler seems great also Coolermaster Hyper 212+ is CHEAP but the best ENTRY level one...

Really nice.... I like the techno stuff myself.....

The key is not to skimp on critical parts like the case and the power supply. Also, you have to try to build a "balanced system", so every components makes sense in terms of price/performance with each other. By that I mean no $500 CPU into a $50 motherboard... Right now, for a good gaming system (and for the price you wanna put), the Intel Sandybridge 2500K CPU, on a P67 (or Z68) motherboard is where it's at.... There is heavily discounted AMD CPUs right now, as AMD is preparing to introduce their new bulldozer CPU lineup..as they're phasing out the 1055T, the 1090T and the 1100T you can get a deal....but it's on End Of Life (EOL) products basically... Also, don't buy at the "corner store", because their prices are usually outrageous...... I don't want to take anything from BIGMEANDEAN said, but Tigerdirect/compUSA doesn't have the best prices usually. On top of that, SOME of their stuff is crap. They sell outdated parts for too much $$$ sometimes, and they sell their "proprietary" parts.... Brands to consider RIGHT NOW (in my own opinion, no offenses!!!!)... Motherboard: ASUS, MSI, Gigabyte RAM: GSKILL, Corsair, Mushkin Power supply: Corsair, XFX, Antec, Enermax (seek a good 750 watts min, 80+ certification) Case: Antec, Coolermaster, LianLi Hard drive: Western digital Black edition SSD: Intel, Crucial (everything else that doesn't have a Sandforce 2281 controller in it) forget OCZ..... Coolers: antec, coolermaster, Noctua, Corsair Videocards: EVGA, MSI, ASUS, PNY (nVIDIA)....MSI, Sapphire, ASUS, XFX (AMD/ATI) (look for warranties....)

This is just suggestions, mind you, but I browsed enough computer parts REVIEWS and stuff to know what's good at the time... Keep in mind that AMD is coming with a new lineup of CPU's in the next few months (it's called BULLDOZER FX-line)..thse bulldozer will be available in 8-cores CPUs...Intel will issue new CPus also...Sandybridge-E... I have problems posting links in this topic, FIREFOX is pissing me off... A good coolermaster CM690 II Advanced for 70 euros... The 2500K Cpu makes a lot more sense for a gaming build...+ aftermarket heatsink for a little friendly Overclock/free boost 8GB of Corsair DDR3-1600 1.5V would cost around 65Euros A good 750 watts power supply....a 850 is even better for upgrade path...90-100 euros (corsair TX-series) A good ASUS motherboard (I prefer) like the P8P67 Pro is good..the MSI P67A GD55 and GD65 are good too...Gigabyte are making good stuff, but I can't recommend models I dunno about... you can grab 2 X 560Ti's from MSI (twin frozr II coolers) for 400 euros (this is the setup I got)....a single GTX570 TFIII for 300 euros..those are the good ones with beefed-up power phases.... The ASUS pre-build was horrid...a single GTX560 (non-Ti) ??? c'mon, it's just a rebadged and overclocked GTX460... the GTX560 "Ti" on the other hand, has more CUDA cores and more raster units...a better, faster card.... If you want a nice balanced system, you might want to grab a single graphics card and put money into an SSD...it's a lot faster than a regular hard drive...I recommend a 120GB SSD if you can afford it...then you grab a 1TB Western digital BLACK for storage (67 euros).... The good SSDs right now (issues-free) are: 1- Intel 510 2- Crucial M4 (179 euros on Komplett for the 128GB version!!!) 3- Crucial C300 I ONLY suggest high quality parts that are known to be great, reliable and you can find all kinds of online reviews on... I'm not saying everything else is crap, but Klompett doesn't store every brand. Also, there is some brands that are selling in EUROPE that aren't available in USA/Canada...

tweakers.net pricematch can be a good tool to find computer parts best prices... http://www.komplett.nl/Komplett/product/ZKB_01COM/21_CPU/01_INTEL/productdetails/20070433/Intel_Core_i5_2500K_3_3GHz_6MB_S1155/BX80623I52500K/default.aspx?channel_code=40&utm_source=tweakers.net&product_code=14308998 http://www.komplett.nl/Komplett/product/ZKB_01COM/15_MOBO/02_INTEL/productdetails/20078122/ASUS_P8P67_Pro_B3_Socket_LGA1155_ATX/90_MIBE5A_G0EAY0KZ/default.aspx http://www.komplett.nl/Komplett/product/ZKB_01COM/10_GRPCARD/11_NVIDIA/productdetails/80003214/MSI_GeForce_N570GTX_TF_III_PE_OC_1_28GB_PCI_E/N570GTX_TFIII_PE_OC/default.aspx http://www.komplett.nl/Komplett/product/ZKB_01COM/13_COOLERS/03_CPU/productdetails/10021605/Coolermaster_Hyper_212_plus_120mm/RR_B10_212P_GP/default.aspx

DON'T buy a pre-made computer...... A big no-no...if you need help, let us know how much you wanna spend and I'll see what I can come up with. Also, please post the URLs of the sites you can buy from..... You in NL, there must be online stores there right? you can get MUCH better stuff for the same price....I'm thinking 2500K, GTX570, 8GB RAM, SSD and storage drive....good case and power supply.... Do you need windows 7 with that? 64 bits is now a must....

Anybody else showing interest for this right now? Dedicated servers support is official!
-
lol, nice turnout!
-
It's the max temp it can operate safely period...but obviously, if it's not loaded 100%, high temps aren't reached... I wouldn't bother with Tcase much tho...individual cores temperatures is usually better, closer to reality.. And maybe I missed something, but did you try to install a better cooler, or you're still using the stock bullcrap?
-
again, we'll have to wait and see...
-
Well, As the game is coming out in two months (and EA doesn't want to screw this up)...we'll see. They might change the EULA terms or something. It might be a little overblown too, as EA's EULAs were pretty much the same for the last few years... WAIT AND SEE....EA knows they have a controversy on their hands with that crap. Let's see how they handle it. I know they're big and don't give a flying jeez about the little guys, but they already changed the EULA a little bit...in fact, not much changed, but that means they're aware...

Rugger, RickJames & Trolloc B-DAY today fokes
CplMOFO replied to NumNutz's topic in User Announcements
Happy birthday to all of you folks! -
Thanks Bob for the explanations! I'd say that in the light of what you said, COD Blackops was the same...slow to get the fixes, same old maps for a long time, then we had to pay...It was really hard to keep people interested and the server (s) populated....now we're doing good! I hope that BF3 will get some SERIOUS love from clan members.
-
I bought a flightstick, so I'll try to master the jets!!! What are the real causes for XI dropping BC2? It is still a good game, and lots are still playing it. Hopefully, BF3 will have the best BF2 and BC2 have to offer, and deliver a VIABLE alternative to COD. This is THE game I'm buying!!! with all the respect I have for the COD universe, I don't want to play another REHASH of COD4 again... At least, BF3 will offer destructible environments, up to 64 players battle, lots of vehicles...

New ATI Catalyst 10.8 driver BOOST in Crysis 2 and Blackops
CplMOFO replied to CplMOFO's topic in Computer Help
Sry for the mistake, it's 11.8, but my title stated 10.8...my bad -
Well, I forked $105 CDN in blackops already ($60 game + 3 X $15 DLCs). Ok I got all the maps, but that was the price to pay to keep playing with the community...But even if MW3 has dedicated servers, ACTIVISION won't veer away from that MONEY-MAKING scheme...they can promise us the world, BUT, there is NO WAY, they'll let the community make their games last longer anymore. Activision is enforcing the one year game cycle for COD product..they're even working on an RPG-type game lolz... I'm hoping for Battlefield 3 to save the day, but we'll have to see...Activision got us (COD fans) by the BALLZ...

New ATI Catalyst 10.8 driver BOOST in Crysis 2 and Blackops
CplMOFO replied to CplMOFO's topic in Computer Help
Yea, That might be a crock, but with a claim of up to 20%, if that reveals true, it's like transforming a 4870 into a 4890, or a 5770 into a 5830...lol Also, the driver claims to help the Crossfire users....which is nice. Let's see how it pans out for you folks! -
