  1. A recent card will surely be "bottlenecked" by his CPU/mobo...a quick and dirty upgrade is to get a Phenom II X4 CPU on the cheap...even the 6 core AMD CPUs are dirt cheap compared to Intel (CPU/mobo/RAM requirements)
  2. Humm.. That GTX295 house 2 X GTX275 chips right? Sounds like an awesome deal and is within the OPs price range... The GTS250 is a rebadged 9800GTX+ card, which is a rebranded 8800GTS 512mo...so that GTX295 is a beast...the OP has to have a power supply up to the task tho! it needs 1X 8 pin PCI-E and 1X 6 pin PCI-e connectors...
  3. VRM temps are the VDDC phases readings in GPU-Z
  4. Good luck. Post some pics if you like! I've been using some Gskill RAM along with ASUS boards with no issues personally. I love my HD5870 card also. BUT, I have the upgrade itch again...I'm eyeing a HD6950 crossfire setup...or Sandy bridge...or Sandy + an second HD5870, or a single GTX580 and/or....FOK!!!!!!!! Drives me nuts...Too bad AMD Bulldozer will be released June 20th...it;s still a long way to go.. AMD Finalizes Shipment Dates for Next-Gen Chips. AMD FX-Series "Bulldozer" to Ship in June, "Llano" to Land in Early July [03/07/2011 04:57 PM] by Anton Shilov (FROM XBITSLABS) Advanced Micro Devices has finalized shipments schedules of its future microprocessors, according to industrial sources. The world's second largest designer of x86 microprocessors will begin commercial shipments of its high-end FX-series chips based on Bulldozer micro-architecture in the second half of June and will initiate supplies of A-series code-named Llano accelerated processing units (APUs) in early July. Shipments of AMD FX-series high-end desktop microprocessors will commence on the week of June 20th, 2011; Supplies of A-series APUs will begin on the week of July 4th, 2011, according to industrial sources. As expected, AMD's Bulldozer central processing units for desktops will become available earlier than Llano APUs. As a result, AMD will be able to create a "halo" effect for its microprocessor lineup with a high-end offering that is projected to outperform existing Phenom II chips by 50%. Based on a document seen by X-bit labs, AMD plans to release four eight-core AMD FX8000-series chips, two six-core AMD FX6000-series microprocessors and two quad-core AMD FX4000-series central processing units (CPUs) this year; miam miam give me sum.... anyway, I don't know how I could possibly wait that long...
  5. Nice temps on those VRMs...on the Extreme 5870, the VRM temps could go up to 90 degrees C...too hot for my taste! I guess they had cheaped out on the VRM sink. That's why I didn't install it...good thing I paid $49 only for it! For the glue thing...I bought thermal Adhesive, (thermal epoxy)...it's good, but irreversible...as my card is XFX and has a lifetime warranty, I need to be able to take the sinks off, put the original heatsink/fan combo to RMA if it fails down the road...
  6. Cool pics bro! I bought the Accelero Extreme 5870 for my HD5870 a few months back. The issue I had was that the thermal sticky tape on the RAM sinks was crappy...basically, it wouldn't stick. On top of that, the Extreme 5870 was known to have very good cooling for the GPU, but POOR cooling for the VRMs...so I never bothered putting it on... My question...how are the VRM temps on your cards? Nice setup really... EDIT: I'm EYEing the launch of the HD6990 on March 8th...and the GTX590 on the 15th... might be interesting! I'll have to grab a better monitor, as I'm still running 1680 X 1050... I might go Crossfire 6950s, depending of the price of the 6990...time will tell. The new dual-GPU cards will hopefully cause price drops on HD6950s HD6970s, GTX570 and GTX580s... Hopefully, performance numbers for AMD BULLDOZER will come out soon too!!! Good thing my upgrade money isn't quite there yet...
  7. Sign me up! My headset just died on me...hopefully I'll have a new one before the tourney to communicate in TS3, or I'll use sign language in a webcam vid conference...lolz
  8. There is a 1GB version of the XFX HD6950 that can be found for around $240, minus mail-in rebate...also, the Geforce 560Ti can be considered. I agree with the HIS crapiola...I ordered one that was DOA (dead on arrival) back in the day...I know, stuff happens. A few people recommended HD5870 cards, which are good cards. They're just being slowly discontinued. The HD6870 and HD6950s are the new cards...the hD6970 even better. Now, on the 8th of March, HD6990 dual-gpu will come out!!! 60% more powerfull than GTX580! well, nVidia will come up with a card to counter that on the 15th...dual GTX570 I bet... The problem with graphics cards is mostly the "naming scheme"...it's sometimes confusing...it leads some people to order older cards...some etailers are out-to-lunch pricing-wize also... they overcharge...
  9. I agree that the spawn point situation blows... But isn't XI going against it's roots by not offering FFA on a COD game?
  10. Nice stuff BAMA. The HAF X is a sexy beast! Unless I'm blind, I didn't see an Aftermarket Heatsink...Grab one!!!!!!!!! so ypu''l be able to OC that bastid 1100T I own a XFX HD5870 reference card and I love it. I really thought about getting another one for crossfire glory, but I now hesitate...2 Hd6950s in crossfire are a good option too, 30% to 40% faster than a GTX580...then I could pass-on my XFX HD5870 to my daughter...I could recuperate her XFX HD5770 to build a home theather PC!!! Computer hardware drives me crazy...it's my thing I guess...
  11. I installed it, no issues YET lolz... I ran SSD tweaks again on my SSD to make sure no settings were changed after the upgrade...
  12. Pretty good idea actually... That S&S stuff was GROSS...now, we can accommodate double the idiots on those 2 servers!!!
  13. I'm a MOFO, some find that I'm perfectionist, persistent and stubborn to the point they get annoyed LOLZ, guess it's mofo part1. Also, when I met my wife, she was a mother already (so you get the MOFO 2 part), I still MOFO her to this day LOL. I'm in the military and MOFO was my nickname when I was a corporal back then...I'm still in the army, not a corporal anymore tho, but still a MOFO, and I'm gaming under the Nickname "CplMOFO" for at least 4 years... why would I change? lol
  14. Good find there bro!
  15. From Tom's Guide: This week Treyarch's community manager, Josh Olin, spoke out about the bug-filled Call of Duty: Black Ops along with the company's role and attitude in fixing those bugs. Zoom "The studio is taking every effort to ensure that every fan is happy," Olin explained. "It is unfortunate that those [bugs] have to exist at all. In an ideal would we would love to ship a completely bug-proof game. I can't think of a single developer in the world, though, that could achieve that." Gamers on all three platforms, Playstation 3, Xbox 360 and PC, have experienced troublesome bugs while playing the game's online multiplayer mode. These bugs have continued to pop up since the release of Call of Duty: Black Ops. In response to a plethora of gamer complaints and worries, Activision released several updates in the past months attempting to fix the major issues players had such as: respawning next to their enemies, game freezing, issues with killstreaks, and more. Despite their efforts, Olin has still been dealing with complains from upset gamers who experience different problems and bugs. In order to enlighten the disgruntled Black Ops players, Olin has took to the forums in order to explain exactly how the game patching process works and why gamers should be a bit more patient when waiting for bugs to be fixed. Olin explained that Treyarch collects a comprehensive list of bugs over the course of two or three weeks. After the list is collected the developer spends a week testing the fixes and another week waiting for the console to approve the new updates. Finally, the patch is released after two to three days. According to Olin, it takes the company about a month to address certain bugs and problems that may make playing the game unpleasant. Considering the frequency that people play the company's hit titles, this period of time feels like years to gamers. Let us know about your multiplayer experience in
  16. What is the future for Treyarch? Let's show them what the future for them is...
  17. Thanks for your input allz! The way I see this, I'll mention it again, would be a one time thing, so yes a few admins, to "warn/kick" offenders... Lot of people would gain from using the tomahawk, knifes pistols and shottys...if everybody uses it, it's fair...it's close range, so you don't get sniped from across the map by a rifle-bearing individual... anyway, food for thought...a one shot event would not hurt our server stats, would not offend our regular visitor...could be fun on TS3 also...
  18. Howdy, Blackops, with the small maps could be a good platform to host a one shot-deal SHOTGUN/PISTOL/KNIFE event one day don't you think? SHOTTY users are very rare in this game, and no luck using it when most play with machine guns (Spray and pray). A One time event (once in a while), could allow players to dust out the shotguns, rack up a few more XP points doing so...you know it's fun...
  19. http://bashandslash.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=442&Itemid=108 Read this, and install that config file... Or, google COD WAW config tweaks.....
  20. Retarded Treyarch dude.... He's complaining that we use social media (such as this forum and others) to complain about their crappy product... On top of that, they're about to ask us to fork $15 for a mappack (coming soon on the PC)..instead of releasing the freakin MOD TOOLS they promised... Treyarch, you peed in my corn flakes......fok ya
  21. Well, Shrapnel, it sux for you, hang tight buddy....you might be able to grab a Z68 mobo when they come out, they'll support SB overclocking, will also be able to use the graphics cores of SB, and will introduce "SSD CACHING" a new feature... The way I see it: -Intel is taking the bull by the horns...it's fine...a responsible company. It will cost them an estimated total of 1 Billion dollars for that boo boo...if you own a P67 mobo, you'll get it exchanged (in april...that sux) or refunded (but stuck with SB CPU????). -Now, April-May time frame will bring us to Bulldozer launch (if AMD isn't dragging their feet again)....early adopters from Bulldozer MIGHT get their fair share of teething problems with early BIOS revision and such cr4p.... -AMD Bulldozer has YET TO PROVE that it's a worthy replacement/equivalent to current gen Intel offerings...if it's no better than Intel's last gen (P55 and X58 platforms) it's not gonna be making any difference in the "enthusiast" market... -anyway, Intel "revised" P67 mobos will be out late...a great occasion for AMD to pull fingers out of their noses, and TRY to reclaim the enthusiasts crowd with Bulldozer... Will Bulldozer live up to the expectations? Could it be like back in the day, when the Almighty Athlon 64s (2004-2005) were rulling the place???
  22. I'd say that being an early adopter of AMD Bulldozer will lead to same potential for issues... This post from HARDWARECANUCKs shows what actions are being taken as of now... Canadian Retailers: NCIX.com: Cougar Point products unavailable for purchase. 23. People are quick to make funny pics about it!!! AMD Bulldozer is coming in April with 8-cores CPUs...
  24. Yes that sux, But it's a great exemple of the reasons why you don't want to be an early adopter.... REALLY sad for people who jumped on the SB bandwagon...now, it's gonna be hard to trust the motherboards on the market, even the "revised" ones...there will be a lot of REV 1.1 motherboards....it will be important to be conscious when buying... Now ,I can't wait to hear horror stories of RMA and recalls to manufacturers....it's total crap, as INTEL SB was ready in July...they had a good 6 months to test everything!!!!!!!!!!!!
  25. Yes guys, got that too...OUCH INTEL!!!! Gigabyte, Newegg stop selling Sandy Bridge mobos http://techreport.com/discussions.x/20329 Well, if INTEL rushed this chipset out, just to beat the disclosure of AMD BULLDOZER, well, AMD HQ is probably hosting a party right now!!! PASS this on to everybody you know that might be interested in buying this!!!!
