  1. NICE move XI!!! IP's already available. I went to Wallymart close to my place after work today, and tried to talk the old lady into selling me a copy of the game tonight instead of tomorrow...she didn't fall for it! She said they could get in trouble and be charged penalties if they'd sell before disclosure date... Damn...I'll try to grab it during lunch time tomorrow. If not, after work...hopefully Wallymart got enough copies available!!!
  2. Isn't it a little too much money spent on that 'Ol faithful 9800 card? http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814130562 GTX460 from EVGA, lifetime warranty, $144 after mail-in rebate! You might be able to get a few buck for your 9800GT to put towards that GTX? Just a thought.
  3. Rambo, take a look at the Athlon II X4 620/630/640, it can be found for cheap. Is there any computer stores / Etailers that offer "pricematching" where you are? Try to use sites like this to look for the best price from know sellers.. http://www1.uk.shopping.com/athlon-II-X4/products?CLT=SCH I dont like bundles, there is a always one of the two product that blows...usually a cheap motherboard.
  4. Hey Rambo's Son, You could try to find a Phenom II X4 (a Quad) than would be so much better in THE LONG RUN. The PHENOM II X4 can be found in the UK for around 100-110 pounds (I think this is how you say it?). For the motherboard....ASUS or Gigabyte...look for solid capacitors http://skinflint.co.uk/a401796.html For the motherboard, look i you can re-use your RAM (what is it anyway), DDR2 or DDR3...be sure of that first. The ASUS M4A89GTD PRO is nice (it's a board using DDR3 memory tho). But as mentioned above, the Gigabyte boards are also top notch.
  5. Happy birthday!
  6. I just found that video-interview/gameplay from GAMESPOT, that just came out about Blackops. It's a full 1 hour-long video in 720P of the game... I think it's worth posting, even tho it doesn't bring a lot to the table in terms of server-relates stuff, you can get a better idea of how the game looks, and the many ways to "rank-up". MOFO
  7. LOL Unchileno... Canadian Tire currency ruling the world's economics!
  8. Nice game! I seen in one of those videos that there will be the option/perk to add clan tag to customize your weapon... And on the computer requirements mentioned...I think they rate too low...a freakin' X1950 Pro? C'mon... A 8800GT is pretty much the baseline.
  9. My Logitech G5 is set at 900DPI on the middle setting...that's what I use in game...anything more it's hard to control...my 2 cents. MOFO
  10. Yes, looks good. Basically, it's just the lack of "protection" and the data spread of RAID 0 over two drives that is a little concerning. It always been a good solution for speed. What about RAID 0+1? It might double the amount of HDDs, but it mirrors your fast RAID 0 array to another set of drives...
  11. Congrats on the newborn!
  12. Humm, sorry for the data loss... I'd say that one 120gb SSD drive is a lot faster that a RAID array and is better for a boot drive/main partition. I agree that it's darn expensive compared to regular drives tho... You can still run a RAID array on top of that for storage!
  13. Oh I see, Didn't know that. Haven't played the COD4 "one in the chamber" I found this site that shows weapons, perks, killstreaks, and maps for the upcoming game. I guess most of you already seen most of this, but it's a nice little wiki... http://www.cod7blackops.com/ What they say on dedicated servers: Ranked servers: Match making, ranking, COD points (wager mode)..wager mode is supposedly supporting only 6 people on a TREYARCH special server...(rumor) Dedicated: UNRANKED, HIGHLY CUSTOMIZABLE... Can't wait for the 9th to separate the truth from the crap...
  14. The best gaming LCD would be the 2ms ones...I don't like the new 16X9 ratio of the HD panels, IMHO 22" (1680x1050) and 24" (1920X1200) are nicer (16X10) but hey become harder to find...especially the 24" 16X10
  15. RickJames, There seems to be an issue with COD5 DM Custom maps / Modern weapons stats also not updating. Keep up the good work, there is a lot of work being involved in all this admin stuff!
  16. LOL, That was a good one! Payback!
  17. There is a new chipset coming up, called "lucid Hydra" that will allow different graphics cards to work in parallel. Of course you'll need a motherboard that supports it. In your situation it's not an option...IMHO SLI= two nVIDIA cards using the same GPU core... Like above BUDMAN mentioned, running the 9800GT as a PHYSX card is an option, as long as the games you play make use of PhysX. Look at the list of Physx supported games...not a whole lot of "really" interesting stuff IMHO... I wouldn't bother...which 460 are you getting? The 1024Mo version has a faster memory bus, which makes it a little faster than the 768mo version.
  18. Folks, IMHO, right now the best gaming CPU is the Intel I5 750/760...it's faster than AMD X965 and X6 1055T...we're talking about the $200 price-point. If gaming is NOT your main use for the rig, and you want to do a LOT of processing like 3Dstudiomax, professinal aps and stuff, the 6-core AMDs are great... I prefer a 95Watts I5 760 than a X4/X6 at 125Watts... All in all, the difference between AMD and Intel might be noticeable only in benchmarks...what matters most is the GFX card!!!
  19. Rambo, Please note that there is a computer section on the forum, might be a better place to post this... I'd say that the HD2600 should be a little faster. That being said, it depends on the memory it's got on it. If it's GDDR3, it's gonna be faster than DDR2 (both models are out on the market). Look at that old benchmark: http://ixbtlabs.com/articles2/digest3d/0907/itogi-video-sc2-wxp-1280-pcie.html They're both fairly old..what do you want to do with it? Building a light gaming machine? Just note that you can get a brand new XFX HD4650 AGP for $89...
  20. YES! After a long wait ( I skipped MW2), I hope COD7 will live up to the hype. The "one in the chamber" game mode, where you have one pistol bullet and knife will be intense I bet! The Wager mode seems fine, but will only be played on dedicated TREYARCH servers with a max of 6 players So that limits it's interest from a gaming clan perspective... There is still a few unknown, like the amount of customization/modding that will actually see the light...the possibility of getting extra maps is REALLY what's matter. Hope they don't mess it up!

    UPS

Oh jeez... shitty avatar pic... Lol..I'd say go big or go home. If you need a UPS for a gaming rig, even if you need 5 minutes only of backup, will require a big UPS. What's your PSU? You're from the UK, dunno if they sell Kill-a-what device at the hardware store over there...it's cheap...like $15 US dollars. Hook this up to the wall outlet, plug in your power bar to measure max power draw. It's this... It give you the exact reading of the power draw at the wall. There must be 240v versions where you live. That could help you to choose an appropriate UPS... I wuldn't buy anything below 800 Watts APC models tho...

    Howdy XI

Humm, I'll sure try to find you and knife you bro..you know it!
  23. Sry Sarge, but I'd rather shoot first and ask questions later!!! Looking forward to frag ya!
  24. Thanks all for the warm welcome! I was a little frustrated at the whole MW2 (no dedicated server blablabla) thing. So I played some BadCompany 2 for the graphics.. It's non a social game really, so I got sick sick of it. I need the more social, "play for fun" deal. Also, I've been away from the country for a bit at times... Yes Shadowlady, I used to be an RB, I was a clan founder actually. I had good memories playing you back in the day! . A really small clan that was...it's all memories now...I often play along with my buds Ukildme. We're the ones playing the most of that outfit anyway...always been that way. My old lady is quite nice of letting me play a lot and spend the $$$ on Hardware!!! Again thanks all...and thanks Caper for trying to make me flinch...got a few Capers buds a few years back...I never tell a Caper he's from Nova Scotia...then don't tend to like that...lol
  25. Well, Like Rick and Nightmare are mentioning, you should really consider upgrading to a tower-style Heatsink. You could also, swap factory fans for models that move more air and build a better static pressure. Noctua fans are notoriously ugly, but really good. Coolermaster R4s are cheaper, still blow a lot of air, but a little noisier than Noctuas
