Problems with games crashing solved by clean install of W7 Pro on new drive. But in reinstalling, I find I have lost disc 1 of COD2. Anybody have an ISO or, if anyone could mail it to me I swear by all that's holy I'll have it right back to them.

Thanks all - I do have UAC enabled and edited the version in the Program Files folder - and the changes worked.

Why won't Windows 7 let me save changes to config_mp.cfg? I'm logged in as administrator, and administrator has permission to edit the file. But it refuses permission to save editing changes.

I used a modified Panther XL (http://assassi.ning.com/) where in controls, I just push buttons on the joystick/trackball combo for such as attack, jump, crouch, frag grenade, reload, etc. This assigns a joystick number to each of these setting. Since moving to W7, I have to reload these setting every time I launch the game. Anybody got a clue as to why COD2 wouldn't save the settings?

Did three things which fixed the problem: I reloaded latest Realtek drivers; disabled the front mike jack and moved the mike to the rear jack;

Have the same vid card and had same problem. I increased resolution in the game to 1900x1200 which is the same as my desktop setting, and the problem went away (I have SLI on dual cards

Does anybody remember the fix for COD crashes caused by Realtek onboard sound? I think it had something to do with changing hertz somewhere but damned if I can find it in Google.

Bottom line: We have insufficient data upon which to base a scientific conclusion that a., there is global warming, and that b., mankind is causing it. We all recognize that pollution needs to be dealt with and in the past several decades major progress has been made. But we should not form policy - particularly international policy that will harm America - based on supposition.

Fact is, global temperatures have not been rising the past several years, but dropping. AP gathered temperatures for 100 years or so (the accuracy of this data is quite unreliable) and handed them to statisticians it hired to determine whether there was a global cooling "trend" of late. Of course, the result was quite predictable: a few years of global cooling temperatures, within the context of many more years of global warming temperatures, could not possibly indicate a cooling trend. But this approach, in and of itself, demonstrates the fallacy of the global warming argument, i.e., a hundred year or so of temperatures within the context of five billion or so years of Earth history, cannot be used to demonostrate anything.

What we need is a mod that lets you put your own face on your player. Now that would be a hoot.
