  3. dont expect me to feel sorry for you. lol The only problem with them days was once the cartoons were over... their was not a damn thing to watch. Plus the news came on at 5 to 7 so you could not watch tv then either. VCRs had not come out yet and we did not have the Internet. Nudie magazines back then were like children s books today and I used to get bored alot making time move real slow. Other than that... loved it back then. lol
  4. Hell with condoms get a vasectomy. After my third was born I swore off fathering children forever. No condoms for me ever again, and no accidents. It feeeeeeeeeels soooooo much better. i got my vasectomy at age 23. I knew I did not want any more kids. But mine hurt.. the bitch that did it hatted men. But worth it. Thank God you did hxtr, otherwise Texas would have the same population as Canada lol. lol more like Guam, California, Maryland, Virgina and also Texas Joe. hahahaha
  5. You have much (too much?) confidence in the security of the web sites that you visit... If they have not been properly secured, an attacker can insert code to be run when you visit - a "drive-by" attack. Even advertising can be poisoned in this way. Cavey's suggestion of an integrated suite of security software is the sensible solution. One does need a memory-resident guard against infection equipped with a link-scanner to identify known malicious/ compromised web sites. Yes, one can avoid a great many problems by selecting where one surfs with care but that does not provide 100% protection. A properly-configured firewall is also a necessity. I would not let a kid near any PC on which I performed any financial transaction or on which I kept sensitive data of any sort. Net Nanny programs do work - in fact, they can be a very blunt and restrictive tool. When my son was at school, researching for an essay on a World War 2 topic, that installed on his machine stopped him visiting the Imperial War Museum's site due to the references on it to German national socialism. The program also sent me reports by email of which web sites were being accessed. You may think that is a bit like "Big Brother" but I called it "Big Daddy" and the knowledge that I had this capability was a deterrent to any exploration "off piste", shall we say! I still regard such programs as essentials for responsible parents unless all activity on the machine takes place in a common room like ones living room where it can be overseen in person by the parent. i have lots of confidence... i dont do any banking on my PC and I know where I go and how to protect myself without a AV. I used to test software and many times the virus was not detected by the AV. My fault and I dont test much software anymore. But If I do I use a virtual. Keep the bad stuff in a place that gets wipped as soon as I reboot. I may just need the serial and the key generator hold the virus but a good key. I have not run any AV for 3 years and have only been hit once. It was my fault and I learned most all viruses come through the hole in your system called Java. No script but also bad bad sites I turn off Java. But worse case... I plug in my other drive and transfer my data and Im up and running. I ghost my drive just incase. So never down more than 10 minutes. If that drive also dies I have the image backup to my terrabyte.. just would have to wait for the image to be applied. Im not worried about any virus or anyone hacking my system as I dont have much but music, video games and other software and I use 500mb at boot. 180mb on my XP laptop. Cheers!!

  17. interesting.... complicated... not something I can trust when it was rammed down our throat. No one read it.. so for all we know it can say so much more... for when they need to say that. 2500 pages of regulations. If this is not a tax on the middle class..... why do illegals from wherever get free coverage? Pretty sure the middle class will be picking up that bill.. along with small business. If I work at McDonald earning minimum wage $7.25 hr working 40 hours a week making $290 a week or $1160 a month before taxes, what amount do yo expect myself to pay for coverage for myself and then a family? If rent cost $500, that leaves about $600 or so left over. Not much room for any insurance payment. So who's going to pay that? Employer? If it does get passed down to business.. it will be passed down to the consumer, prices go up to compensate. We all pay more to pay for people that cant afford. If the individual is not paying for their insurance.... then who is fronting the bill? I say middle class and small business. If you earn $80k, expect to pay for someones insurance. If you own a small business be sure to expect to pay for someones insurance. This will be a direct attack on small business and you will see many of them close their doors. My current boss is one of them. That being a reality... how is this going to help our situation? They dont want to help the situation. Poor people do a better job of listening when told to do something. I think everyone should have coverage though... and they have done a fine job of breaking this system over the years.
