  1. Well there might be an easy fix for this. Change the fire time from 0.055 seconds per round (the default) to 0.2 per in the G3 weapon file. Should allow no more than 5 rounds per second no matter how fast a players finger, mouse wheel or macro is.
  2. 1 and 2: RC-XD jamming will work differently and you will no longer be frozen in the new mod. Your fire button wont work if you are within 128 units of the jamming player. On the other hand, another bug is that even if you blow up next to a frozen player you still defrost him while you are still there but before respawning. So depending on your point of view you could say the jammer still works for a short while (sort of like marty) and also say the dead RC is still generating heat from its smoking remains. 3: Yes know about that one. Predator will have mouse sensitivity changes so you cant fly around very fast. The compensation is orbiting in a UAV for a little bit to give you time to pick out a target. I think I posted a vid of that. The bug happened to me once. I didnt tell anybody until I was the last player. Thought about saying nothing and letting the other team search and search for me. But I didnt want to be mean so I left. Should have gone to spec tho.
  3. You dont have to work to get Eavesdrop but you do have to give up some nice perks to get it. Or do you think its also unfair that there is a perk to block UAV?
  4. Well when someone throws a novagas nade you can just ask your teammates if one of them threw it. Problem solved.
  5. I will change the next one so friendlies dont take damage just the effects. That is except for the player that threw the nade, like frags. Friendlies deliberately throwing gas on you? They have no shame.

Been testing it this morning and what will happen is that if you press the fire button but within range of a player jammer it wont work and you will get an icon in the middle of the screen so you will know. Otherwise there is no effect and you can drive away. Still working on a balanced range and 128 unit radius from the player looks pretty good. Also going to restore novagas effects for disorientation but no damage to make it consistant with the stock game. As for server differences and updates between Chi and NY, mods must progress and evolve to one extent or another. Mostly out of necessity to make it more efficient and to fix balance issues. But also to sometimes introduce new options if they enhance gameplay.
  7. You are welcome. So far I have seen responses by a few of the usual suspects and it seems the consensus is to just disable the fire button. But if a larger group wants to make their opinions known this is the weekend to do it.
  8. Well those are two different things and the mod being a later build doesnt necessarily translate into the old one inherently being better. Only that the server doesnt get much traffic. Maybe the location really bothers people and I wonder if the solution is to just have two NY servers to take that issue out of equation. Or maybe there just arent enough players to support two servers when one of them is 31. Pehaps two 24-player severs with one HC and one SC.
  9. I'm working on hopefully getting the mod ready for testing.... yes again... and to Rugger for the Chi server this weekend to see if its ready for prime time, as the old saying goes. More poll results on this before then for what people want, or another option not on the list, would help. Some can already be done with server config changes but others need some code changes. And after that playing the mod even tho its in Chicago. One thing I want to see if anyone experiences spikes when changing or accepting loadouts.
  10. The original RC is pretty much a guaranteed kill every time with no defense. That caused the obvious complaints. Defenses were needed for a 3-kill weapon. So a few options if everyone wants to get rid of being frozen in place. 1: When in range of a jammer your fire button doesnt work. 2: Add an 'anti-jammer' to the same perk. 3: Jammer forces you to explode early. 4: Jammer slows you down to 1/2 normal player speed. 4: No jammer and max speed is limited to normal player speed. 5: No jammer and damage range is reduced. 6: No jammer and timer is cut to 20 seconds. 7: No jammer and raised to 5 kills. 8: No jammer and RC is affected by Novagas. s&g is for completing objectives. In ftag defrosting is considered an objective.

  13. Well all I can say is I come from the view of the modder much more than the game player and you dont need to explain anything. Those of us working hard on the MW2 mod know more than the typical player what makes for a good weapon and more important when its a bad one for the role is it supposed to serve. So if the G3 is rebalanced to act as a full auto weapon... which is much more than a simple firing mode switch... then it becomes an M4, Scar-h or ACR. So one of those would have to be made to work as a single shot G3. A pointless exercise. It takes a good amount of gameplay in an open environment to have a true measure of a weapon to be fair but for example when the M16 was taken out and not replaced with a comparible weapon it was not a good thing.
  14. Because its a game and the look of the weapon is not important. There are a certain number of options and each is supposed to have its strength and weaknesses. Whatever name it happens to have it serves that purpose whether its called a G3 or a boomstick.
  15. In real life you dont fully recover from being shot in a few seconds nor are you magically reincarnated into a full grown adult with loaded weapons after you die.
  16. All open warfare based mods have this ability. In the case of the MW2 mod it was taken out so the FX needed for the beam can be used for something else like the friendly green trail for the RC. As always when it comes down to limited assets its a matter of priorities and after asking around few ftag players wanted the beam.
  17. Well... I dont play the server much but how about getting kicked from your own mod!
  18. The server can have 31 players in the game. Slot 32 is used for redirect purposes since 1 must remain open for a new player to join and the redirect functions to work and decide who to kick. After that its back to 31. The main drawback is that you must first have the mod which means new players have to download all 100+ mb of it. And after that the custom map since the mod wont start the mod until the map is there.
  19. This usually happens when the map and redirect dont match.
  20. Oh as for the care pacakges and artillery the newer mod is better at making sure the care package doesnt land there and artillery launcher vehicles can be destroyed by SAMs if it has an open path to shoot back.
  21. only problem is on the beta server the heli has been disabled on most maps? so i dont use it anymore Thats not a mod problem and is actually a good thing. Many maps are lacking full support because of a design decision by the mapper. Often sniper maps or indoor only maps etc. For full support it needs node locations for arrival, moving to various points in the play area, and departure path locations. It also needs paths for evasive and crashing. If a map lacks crash paths for example it will just sit there turning and burning for the rest of the game since it has nowhere to go.
  22. Ideas are always welcome. Often they may be impractical or a duplication of effort but lead to other ideas in turn. There are already a lot of airstrikes for example unless going into the scifi realm like the ion cannon in K3. Something like that was considered for this mod, which in itself I am sure was inspired by the sat weapon in Akira if anyone remembers that movie. But it didnt really fit. Even so Trey 'borrowed' it for their game like so many other things. However if would mean they or IW provide tools for MW3 or BO2 it would be a welcome trade and they can add whatever ideas they want.
  23. The first problem with the harrier is that the game does not allow script vehicles like the heli to be manually pitched down in multiplayer games. Which would be needed in this case for it to aim its rockets and shoot its forward cannon. The couple mods I have seen it in basically use that model in place of a Cobra/Hind except it also has a weird turret so it can still shoot a gun. With the requirements needed to add it in its not worth it.
  24. Nope. Cant add dogs. For helis and such SAMs do quite nicely.
  25. The moab serves the same purpose as the tac nuke. Except that moab doesnt have the ability to end a match in tdm or no-respawn games if the server wants to do that. I dont know what killer cogs are. Thought about the emp but after various discussions most people didnt seem all that interested in it and that the nades were enough. One of the main rules of modding: because you can add a thing doesnt mean you should.
