  1. Dont worry. Alot of native English speakers struggle talking about politics in English.
  2. Business vs unions is never an easy proposition. As in all things there should be a balance. But all the 'unions are bad' talk seem to think businesses have proverbial halo's over their heads. They dont. Business wants to pay workers as little as they can get away with. Unions wants as much pay as they can squeeze out of the employers. Both need to meet somewhere in the middle, which seems to be the exception rather than the rule these days. The hard part is finding what that middle is.
  3. RO2 is a pretty cool game actually but certainly about realism over arcade. And Unreal based mod tools allow for virtually anything. Shame it doesnt have the player base however.
  4. Dont say anything in either that you dont want the whole world to know that it was you who said it.
  5. For what its worth.... Quadrupled both the range and the damage. http://www.redshift....2/chinalake.avi
  6. There is no browser iirc. So while the servers are there the only way to get into them is matchmaking. A dumb idea if you ask me but I suppose the majority of players these days want matchmaking.
  7. It doesnt. Radius damage of the sort that projectiles and grenades use will not penetrate surfaces. Built into the game.
  8. One thing also that probably accounts for the tubes. All classes can get them and they do not take up attachment slots for the primaries. So there are just more of them. But so what? What makes them any better or worse than a bunch of people running around with an RPG?
  9. Nades do not explode through walls. And in any case they are standard game items. The mod did not touch them. The same goes for semtex except the difference is that semtex cannot be cooked, has a shorter fuse, and of course it sticks. Chinalake has a radius of 256, like frags. But minmax damage is linear from 120 (instead of 300) at the center and 40 (instead of 70) at outer range. Exactly like it is for regular GL attachment. So if this is an issue it is one with how the game decided to set the stats. edit: I was very careful to make sure the Chinalake damage, radius, range and all that was exactly what it is for the GL attachment even tho BO chose to make it otherwise.
  10. Servers that have friendly fire clays are the same. The right thing to do is tell your team you planted them and where. But even then at times I run into them and boom. My fault for not paying attention when they were announced tho. I looked at different options on what to do about people stealing packages without permission but they all would affect normal game play too much. I tend to frown on changing something that will affect everybody because of a few lame players as much as I despise them. However in the new servers the advanced control panel allows admins with the proper permissions to shock, explode, or simply kick players that dont follow the rules. So perhaps the thing to try is set up the server with an admin list for it. If no admin is around this isnt much help but a good compromise.
  11. Actually there is... or was... a bit of a court fight about whether or not Activision could take the COD franchise into a futuristic setting. The contracts state the modern era and WW2 to Vietnam, more or less. The plaintiffs were the former heads of IW that were fired by Activision. Dunno if they settled out of court but considering the animosity between them I am not so sure. Also I think Activision's rationale was that there was a difference between future and near-future. So that is likely why it probably feels like MW3. But I dont have that game either and am going only by what I see and hear.
  12. Whether or not you are on target is in a sense simply a laser beam from your eye in the direction you are looking. If that beam hits the player entity, be it the chest or the foot, then it passes and you will defrost him. So it wont work by hitting the ice berg itself. You must be able to hit the player directly. Game geometry will certainly affect that and sometimes because of how game works or the map is made some things will work in one instance but not others. Beyond that there are also range considerations. Dunno what it is set at in the XI server but the default is 1000 game units.
  13. That is just way too funny. Reminds me of the news broadcast when some female reporter talked about a black cock helicopter.
  14. Taking care packages is also part of the game. You never know, there are times where you might want a teammate to take the package.
  15. Check this vid out while you can. Aimbot within 24 hours. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LmTFUoFFB7o
  16. Some stats: 1 game unit = 1 inch. player character when standing is 72 units/inches (6 feet). Regular frag grenade has a max radius of 256 game units. min/max linear damage within that radius is between 300 at the center and 75 at the outer edge. 256 game units = around 12 feet. Certainly in HC things are supposed to be more powerful in comparison to health. Otherwise it wouldnt be HC. Within that 12 feet you are dead. If you are at least 256.01 units away you will receive no damage. Sonic Boom increases range. Not sure by how much.
  17. You would rather keep the one-shot-one-kill crossbow with 10 arrows?
  18. Grenades are supposed to be pretty powerful. Otherwise they wouldnt be grenades.
  19. Im sure I already posted this. For the NY server this is how it decides who to kick. The Chi one was rewritten to handle clans better. Or worse I suppose if you are a not a clan member. All players start at 0: 1) All admin guids that are set in the configs. Gives those player an usually high priority of the guid * 100. 2) All clan members get +100. 3) All clan members add their score / 100. 4) All players add total play time in seconds. So certainly as the game progresses regular players can get a pretty high weight.
  20. Before doing anything check your lagometer. If it already has spikes or whatnot, not including spawn/death etc, then this isnt going to fix it.
  21. I would wait a month or two also but I cant play it now anyways without a processor upgrade and getting win7.
  22. I thought it was supposed to be an 'post war' type of thing. Never read the book. If this is one story does that mean this would be sort of a series of movies?
  23. Getting hired by a game company with a decent salary. But there arent any where I live and I cannot relocate. Problem is, I also cant work 60-80 hour weeks on a consistent basis and they probably only want to hire 20-30 year olds anyways for people that dont have much actual work experience.
  24. Yes that map has a conflict with the mod until I can figure it out.
  25. Yup I have seen all of those at one time or another. Good admins are the only way to deal with them as well as the community run ban lists. I am dubious about the company run BO2 servers. They did come out with the usual list of banable offenses. But there will certainly be a huge number of players and it will be tough to monitor them all. Lagbinds are probably the most common. You see someone running normally then as soon as someone shoots at them they warp away. I hate to say it but in places I have seen 'regulars' do this. If you see a particular player getting kicked for lost packets alot, especially a new player, then there is a fair bet that he is doing it but PB kicked him. Shame that people feel the need to cheat to feel good about themselves but not much you can do without admins. I am sure the people that complained the loudest about BO wanted to cheat.
