  1. I can't get my mic working in COD2! I got it setup in Win7 64 no problem, but it won't work in game. If I try to adjust the output volume via the slider in options, it locks up the game and I have to hard-close it. I think I'm using the standard Miles sound option in COD. I've found the SB X-Fi driver annoying and the Miles option gives me the best positional sound. Anyone have any tips for getting my mic to work with COD2?
  2. On the servers I've admin'd on over the years I would change the settings occassionally on maps. It's a ton of fun to change g_gravity to 28, it's just enough to float around the map for some ariel fragging. Other times I'd crank up g_speed so you can zoom around the map. It's REALLY fun on the bigger maps! How about playing around with these settings once in awhile for a map or two?

  4. Windows drive manager has been around since Windows 2000. You can only create a partition if you have unpartitioned space. Most of the time, there's no unpart. space left on a drive if it was setup properly to begin with. An even better way is to use a second hard drive, an external hard drive, a USB flash drive or simply burn an optical disk. You should have your data backed up anyway!
  5. IW is funny, they finally make it so you can redirect map DL's and make joining custom map servers easy. Then they don't have a way to control the map files. I've found this error message since day 1.....it's a common and persistent problem with COD2. Fortunately, it's an easy fix, but annoying nonetheless.
  6. I'd liike any of these, just a change from the light MG's to anything would be cool.....but panzers sound the coolest to me.
  7. I like to go, my dentist is cool and her hygenist is hot. I typically go 3x per year. It feels good to have your teeth cleaned and I'm usually out of there in 20 minutes. Not matter how good you brush and floss, shit builds up on your teeth and bacteria flourish. Not going for years is kind of disgusting. It's like not washing your ass for years. LOLOLOL
  8. I really like the Ice Station map with light MG's. One night, it was set to use heavy MG's and that was even more fun IMO because it was easy to pick off the campers at the top. Then it occured to me how fun this map would be with panzers only! How about changing that map from light MG only to panzer only?
  9. Primarily people lag for three reasons: 1) Their internet connection sucks or they are sharing bandwidth. 2) Their hardware sucks and is not good enough to properly run the game of choice. 3) Their computer is not optimized in terms of start-up programs and services. First clue on #3....if you have 20 icons showing in your system tray, you have serious work do to in MSCONFIG. On my PC I have disabled all unnecessary services and start-up crap. In my Windows 7 system tray I have 5 icons: speaker volume control, anti-virus, my joystick/mouse profiling software, my RAID monitor and Windows action center. I've always prefered to run a VERY lean PC. I practically have a heartattack when I see all the crap some people run at boot time.....then they complain their PC is slow or they have problems. HAHAHAHAHAHAHA
  10. I'd go with the CoolerMaster. Their full size cases are excellent!
  11. You guys don't allow customization of user title? Hell, my avatar area is UGLY and I don't see anyway to customize it like on other forums. Am I missing the boat?
  12. Oh fuknA.....now I can see! LOL THANKS!
  13. From what I understand is it's a classic settings change that tells your browser to use a proxy server. I've seen it a thousand times on virus/malware infected computers. Frankly, if you're dumb enough to have something like this on you system for this long, you desirve to lose internet access. LMAO
  14. Why would you ask such a question? Are you planning on cheating, being an ahole or being annoying? LOL
  15. Maybe I missed something, but I see no mention of some important critcal factors: 1) Motherboard mfg and model. 2) Memory modules brand and model. (each one) 3) CPU model You made it sound like a "no POST" (Pre-Operation Self Test) condition with all 4 memory slots populated. Testing one module at a time in the same slot (slot 1) is excellent advice. You cannot narrow down the entire problem to being just one of the modules by taking pairs in and out. One bad module can cause a no POST or other odd behavior like having the system not see the memory correctly. You could also have a bad slot. After you've verified each module one at time, then use one module in each of the slots. If the system is POSTing fine with 2 modules, you should run Memtest86 on them to verify they work correctly. Once those check out, swap out for the other two modules and run the test on them. This will at least eliminate RAM as being the problem before you try all this stuff with the mobo.
  16. Why would you get a new mobo if your current one is working fine? There's no point in it unless you're looking to upgrade the CPU.
  17. I don't like it on the forums personally. It makes the forum difficult to read. Yea, it looks sexy but it's like high heel shoes. LOL
  18. I agree, the folks mentioned above should be gone -- once a dickwad, always a dickwad. It's just a matter of time. Indeed my friend, indeed! I think I saw someone mention Cobra in this thread. Prime example of a dickwad. I banned him at least 4 times from the BHC WW server for being a dickwad. In 3 instances he was able to get a new GUID and come back so I banned him again and again. After much discussion, some others in the clan thought it was fine for him to come back....and I strongly disagreed. Nonetheless, for about 2-3 months he kept his mouth shut. Then one day out of the blue I see someone invited him to join BHC and he was going to become a full member. That was the LAST straw for me. It seems EVERYONE ON THE SERVER knew he is a dickwad except the 2-3 folks (that didn't play there) lobbying for him and complete forgiveness. I told them I was leaving the clan at that point and wished them luck with a major dickwad in the clan. Then I hear a couple months later they kicked him out of BHC....for....guess what.....yea, being a dickwad. LOLOLOLOLOL
  19. Integrated sound isn't that great. You can pick up an older gen SoundBlaster for dirt cheap that will work 100x better and save some CPU cycles.
  20. Every two years is a good upgrade cycle to follow. I try to go about 3 years unless an amazing deal pops up. I'm old and my games are usually pretty old, hell, I still frag on the COD2 server with XI folks. When I get newer games I tend to not run crazy resolutions because for me it's all about FPS and eye candy. Usually my older gen cards will run the latest gen games perfectly fine at good frame rates, nice eye candy but at lower res on my 22" LCD.
  21. Why do you insist on a 2GB card? Memory is only useful if you play at very high resolutions, the processing speed of the GPU is the most important feature on a video card hands down. For most folks and most games a 1GB card is sufficient. The 6950 is an excellent card but about $50 more than the 6870 and only a few fps faster. I picked up my 6870 for $150 and it runs everything I throw at it with ease. I still think it's the best bang/buck card out there today.
  22. I would drop down to the 500GB drive (-$20) and add the 180GB OCZ Agility 3 SSD. You're going to see the best game performance by installing your games to the SSD. Also take the Corsair 750w "free upgrade" power supply. NEVER cheap out on power! It's the source of MANY computer problems. I would buy it with the default video card and then buy a better card on your own. The best bang/buck out there now is the ATI 6870 at around $150. With Windows 7 upgrading the video card will be a breeze.
  23. I never recommend using programs like this. They usually spawn processes on the machine and may also contain unwanted bundled software. You are also granting a lot of permission on your machine to allow it to work. I don't know anything about the author of the software so you're putting a lot of faith into the fact they don't have ulterior motives. Additionally, there's no need to update drivers on a PC unless you're having specific issues. The more you fiddle with drivers, the greater the chance you could introduce new problems that didn't exist before.
  24. Any of you guys play this game? I just finished everything about a month ago and it was AWESOME! It was by far the best single player game I've played,
