  1. Yeah, and I think it's at least in late beta at this point. I'd go ahead and start using it. I don't think there's any major pot-holes in it at this point, is there, @@Sitting-Duc, or @@Tim?
  2. Someone already wrote about contacting them, and reported they said there was nothing planned. Latest system requirements for that program date back to 2009 and list Vista as the most current OS. That's just a no go right there.
  3. Okay, well for me this is kind of a deal breaker. Bottom line here is that, if they pop the "subscribe" thing whenever the server gets "busy" then that's their money maker right there. They are holding a reliable connection hostage for a subscription fee. I guess I stand by my recommendation for TS as a replacement since it really isn't a replacement at all. We use it for lots of other games and voice chatting. It does text messaging just fine. And apparently it has a mobile client, @@hxtr, so there you go.
  4. So offer for $2.5M as a flipper then, right? From your pics, I just can't deal with how crispy SoCal looks these days. I lived in the Inland Empire for a while as a kid in the late 60s. It was crispy then, but now it's just toast.
  5. Wow, SOB, I haven't heard the Baker Gurvitz Army since I was in High School!
  6. Here are some pics I took last evening while out on a 4mi cardio walk around the northwest edge of my city - Middleton, WI.
  7. Ah those horns of the late 60s. Love 'em!
  8. I need to try more night photography. I'm just not sure my camera permits long enough exposures. But here's one of the Moon I took last December.
  9. Yeah, that was my stance on it, too, until I realized a text chat could be initiated by right-clicking on someone and choosing to open a text chat. But too many people think "poking" is the way to get someone's attention in TS, and that strands a greater chance of just pissing them off when they get bounced out of a game to the desktop because of it. Evolve looks pretty good. Steam's been pretty good, too - the whole love/hate debate thing aside.
  10. Hey - here's a hot tip, if you didn't already know... If you're not listening to today's Country Music, you're missing something magical. It's not all steel guitars, pickup trucks, busted up love affairs, and cryin' in your beer. That stereotype is so over. (of course it's not like that stuff is totally gone, but hey, what're ya gonna do?) (and yes, Ladies and Gentlemen, I'm gearing up for the on-air debut of Country Girl Radio... You heard it here first.)
  11. In what way does it not meet requirements? I went back to the OP and all I really took from it is that we need a replacement for xfire that does text chat with pretty much all other aspects as nice-to-have, but not required. What did I miss?
  12. Waiting for an answer?
  13. Good one @@TheLastColdBeer !! Thanks - gonna add that to Girls Rock Radio for sure!
  14. Came across this from one of my recording distribution partners. Kind of on the fence about it. That "chicka-ahhhh" bullshit at the beginning about makes me want to vomit. http://vevo.ly/BGtoVh
  15. Okay, I'll take that bait - WTF Phone are you taking that awesome a low-light storm photo with. I want one!
  16. I used to agree with your a and b items, but not any more. You can right-click a person, and "open a text chat" to them. I presume there is an in-game audible to let you know you have received a message. As for the low volume of the notifications, I've found there are volume sliders for all notification sounds, and you can even replace them with your own notification sounds if you want (I think, but I wouldn't anyway.) You can even create hot-keys to do things like switch between headphones and desktop speaker. Or switch mics if you have more than one. Alt tab issues are complicated. Could be the game that crashes (or times out) or it might be the OS that has a problem with it. I've has WAY better luck alt-tabbing out of COD5 and returning without a crash after going to Win8.1. Crashed virtually every time in Win7. (can't stay out long or the game times out.) The game overlay systems are similarly problematic. They might crash the game, or the chat app might crash. Or a game might just not be supported. I'm still liking TS moving forward as it required no additional software than we are already using. I changed my vote to TS.
  17. Maybe I've been wrong about TeamSpeak. I just realized that you can right-click on a person and open a chat tab to them. I thought chat was limited to the chat box for the room you were in. What I don't know is what happens if someone tries to text chat me and I'm 1) in-game, or 2) just sitting in a room hanging out. Can someone tell me that? If it gives you some kind of notification that you've received a new message in both of those cases, I'm changing my vote. And as many have pointed out, we've already paid to establish our own TS server, so it makes sense to maximize our return. (At the moment, I'm sitting in the COD5 Admin TS room - could someone try to text message me while I'm sitting in there?)
