  1. why am I only getting links these days instead of video preview images?
  2. One of Elton's very best! https://youtu.be/ea95D2VJ7OU (same video, just using the other address)
  3. For some reason, voice chat ID (so you can tell who's talking) doesn't work in Hardcore mode. I haven't been able to find an override for that. Thought it might come back if I turned the compass(minimap) back on, but that didn't work.
  4. DM1 has been switched over to a HARDCORE ACE Mod server. Same mod, different game mode. I'm not really sure what all this is going to mean, but presumably it at least means fewer bullets to kill someone, so you may have to adjust your game style to be a little more tactical. Lot's of tweaks have been included, so we're going to just have to see how we like this and make adjustments along the way. CONSTRUCTIVE comments are welcome here, but please no whining. Get in there and play some. I'd like to know what you think! Mot
  5. Thanks @@MARKOFFXI. I was wondering about that map. I think it gave me fits when I was reviewing maps the other day, but when you are rapidly cycling through maps, anything can happen, so I wasn't sure what the cause was. I'll leave it in for the time being, but would appreciate any additional heads-up on issues. If I hear about this again, I'll consider it verified and pull the map.
  6. Happy Birthday, my friend. Go Nuts! You're allowed now, old man.
  7. If you mean PB is kicking you after a couple of minutes of normal gameplay, then there's something wrong with your PB installation. Does your PB folder look like this? http://www.xtremeidiots.com/topic/52405-cod5-pb-problem/?p=565943
  8. It's not a bandwidth thing; however bandwidth can degrade with distance to the signal. Wireless networking is susceptible to many different forms of interference. The neighbor's wifi on the same channel (or one that's too close.) Cordless phone handsets. Cell phones. Microwave ovens. All other forms of radio that might just have a harmonic on the same frequency. Sunspots, too, lol. Casual computing probably wouldn't show these issues. It's likely that watching a movie on Netflix doesn't show it either due to the fairly large look-ahead buffer it uses. Games? Not so much. At least, if you're using wifi, use a smartphone wifi analyzer app to determine what channel people around you are on, then set your own wireless router to avoid them. Like this screenshot I just took on my phone of the 2.4GHz band. I'm on Channel 11. The default is usually Ch6, and my tenant is on Ch1. Note the severe channel overlap. If you don't have access to a smartphone app, at least set your router to a different channel than the default channel. And if you have a 5GHz capable router, use it. It doesn't go as far, but it can be faster and more reliable. The 5GHz band is not as congested as the 2.4GHz band.
  9. Connect directly to the router for gaming (and most anything important.) WiFi is okay for that, but certainly not ideal.
  10. This one just went into my YouTube queue so I can go watch it on my big TV. If you don't know it, the German Rock Music scene is thriving. Always has. We just don't get to hear it much. Christina Stürmer is a mega star over there, and just skipping through this concert, you can see why. This isn't just a concert, it's an experience. Hope you enjoy this. You may have to open your mind to another language, but even if you don't understand, the music by itself is just amazing. https://youtu.be/FKQYyMn2r9g
  11. I'm presuming you mean DM2 since knife throwing isn't turned on in DM1. Probably just a glitch. Restart the game. Not sure what else to suggest.
  12. *officially unsubscribed...
  13. I am beginning to see things @@eidolonFIRE's way. I think he's right. There is absolutely no point in fixing what ain't broke. In the server this morning, I shot and winged Ricko. I knew I hit him, but he either fell over dead, or ducked into cover to lick his wounds. I didn't know which. That made it all the more exhilarating - not knowing exactly what to do next because of not knowing if he was alive or not over there. He's an excellent player so my apprehension level shot up. When it did, I suddenly realized exactly why the game should not tell you if you got a kill or not. (Ironically this was on the Custom Maps server which does have the kill notification on, but I didn't realize that. Maybe that's why they call me Click-Click-Mot in there, too, lol.) Personally, at this point, I think all of our servers should have kill notification turned off. I also recant my comments regarding kit points. Points need to be earned by progression in the map. Bottom line is that no one person is at a disadvantage at the beginning of a map - we are ALL constrained by the points allotted. We must all earn our way to better load-outs. This is a brilliant game. I think we need to give it a chance to be brilliant. Or at least to let its brilliance grow on us. It's growing on me.
  14. Splash yourself in the face much?
  15. Bummer, but hope you get it all sorted out quickly.
  16. Awesome! Glad it worked out.
  17. Yeah, and you're seriously making me re-think my love of that, too!
  18. Scope anyone? I seriously need to gargle after that remark!
  19. Your directory should read like this. (Note the path above the file listing) Also, if you have any pb*.* files back in the Call of Duty - World at War folder, get them out of there.
  20. Wow - Thank you Dragon for a great compliment! Really great to read.
  21. You discount that there is no discernible strategy in BF4, sob - it's just one big-ass cluster-fuck in which tens of people on each side run around desperately trying to kill people while the game's messed up hit registration foils them more than half the time. When you're playing 2 v 2 Insurgency like we started out with this morning, you can't just announce, "let's go get B" or "you take the right side of the bridge and I'll take the left" on an open channel without seriously compromising your position or strategy. Maybe it is true that there is no greater amount of in-game team chat on other clans' servers than in ours, I'm not so sure. I get the impression that the winning teams/players are in fact communicating with each other and developing a plan, not just acting like fools rushing in. I always laugh at the guy who sees me slow to a crawl to scope out around a corner or whatever, but just blows on past me anyway and dies because he just had to be Rambo. And I've heard other players come into our servers and say something like, "What's the plan?" at the beginning of a round only to be frustrated by the silence. idk. Just thinking out loud here mainly.
  22. IDK, maybe I don't configure TeamSpeak optimally for use in game - I don't use push-to-talk, nor do I really want to enable it. I already have a key bound for the in-game chat and I only have so many fingers on my left hand to do stuff with let alone trying to adapt to two instead of just one comm channel. Maybe if TS had a quick toggle hot key between voice-activated and push-to-talk... Anyone know if that's possible? Maybe that would work.
  23. I don't disagree with your points here, eidolon, but I'll make some observations as to what's really impeding this game. To your first point -- it's TeamSpeak. We've all come to congregate on TeamSpeak when playing the game, and that's fine because it's fun to have a good ol' BS session with friends while you play. But when the opponents are talking about what they are doing, or where they have spotted the other team, it defeats the purpose of a tactical game like this. The in-game chat is all that should be used in Insurgency by my way of thinking. Playing the bots is another matter, because by design it's us against the bots, and we can talk freely amongst ourselves. Playing a free-for-all death match like COD5 also lends itself to open communication because it's everyone against everyone else and so strategy doesn't matter. But that's not how the tactical and custom Insurgency servers work. I think FFA DM and US vs BOTS-style games are great for Breakfast Club groups that are as much social as they are into the game. This is where it would help to have an admin team that suggests ways to meet everyone's needs in that regard. Like promoting US vs BOTS Breakfast Club play on M, W, F, and tactical server gaming on Tu, Th, Sa, Su, as a for instance. Either way, TeamSpeak is crippling our servers as an open place for others to come play because they are not on our TeamSpeak. Yes, the in-game announcements give the TeamSpeak address and password, but that's not what outsiders are expecting, especially when there is a perfectly good in-game chat system available. On the matter of coordinating classes - especially who's going to have the explosives - that seems a more difficult matter. Maybe on other clan's servers players discuss player class on the way in. I don't hear that happening here. We all just pick a class we'd like to try, or have become somewhat accustomed to. But that's because we're noobs at this game. So as I see it: 1) We (as a clan) are noobies to this game. 2) Because of #1, we don't have game yet (i.e., strategy) 3) We are relying on the wrong communication medium. 4) A few extra kit points (not unlimited, but maybe just an additional 6pts maybe) could provide enough to add an explosive/incendiary to any kit while still limiting kit selection enough to continue making it a challenge. 5) #4 could be tightened back up over time, but may provide just the slack the clan needs in this early stage to ease into better proficiency and learn to be more tactical. And I think... 1) We need to commit to the game and not be so worried about, or start predicting the demise of our servers. 2) We need to get better time coverage by the admin team. So that, for instance, in the Breakfast Club matches, when morons come in and blatantly team kill, get votekicked, then just come right back in, that we can take a more decisive action to ban their sorry asses. We don't have that kind of coverage at the moment. 3) And finally, I'll humbly submit that it's inappropriate for the game admin team to be dismissive of the Senior Admin team's suggestions. When they suggest that we try to do this or that, coming back and saying "we will not be...[doing this or that]" seems a little pretentious to me. imho. Your mileage may vary. This is an AWESOME game. We're just experiencing growing pains with it coming out of the gate. Nevertheless, I see this being a long term game for the clan.
