    Best one was my Aunt. She said she woke up in the middle of the night, and needed to use the bathroom. She got up, went in, and flushed the toilet. Got back in bed, and realized she hadn't USED the bathroom. We all laughed, but she reminded us all that today is as good as it gets. All downhill from here.

    @@MrBubbles TY, your answer mirrored the suggestion from another message board. Windows power management is the way to go, and the easiest solution. Chromecast is lovely if you are streaming HD video from a computer to a video device, not so much when you are working with older dvd players & tvs without HDMI or USB ports. We use thumbdrives for everything around here, even vehicles. Handy having a musical library you can plug into any car/truck you happen to grab.

    Thank you @@ChknFngr, I used ffmpeg under AvitoDvd, and it worked fine. I'll look at macroplant. BTW, bought 12 Altenmunster amber swingtop bottles off ebay. They work great, and still have their ceramic caps. Wish I could find more.

    Nope @@hxtr, ain't tried it. I'm thinkin' the best bet is just buy a few LG bluray players that have USB ports, and scatter them around the house. fuk the dvd conversion, because it's old hat anyhow. Dean, I've met (& had drinks) w/ hxtr. That'll turn you away from gay, midget porn quicker than anything. Tall, buxom, and female will trip my trigger anytime.

    No, but I'll look it over Loader. Just wanted a smaller program that would run at night. AVS2DVD tended to hibernate with the screen saver. Had good luck w/GNU programs in the past, but handbrake is so voracious it's going to damage something.

    Used to use AVStoDVD for encoding, but thought Handbrake might be more useful. Slurps up every available core, thread, and meg of memory until my computer thermo cycles out & shuts down. Damn, any slick way to throttle this program down? All I want to do is convert James Bond movies from MKV to Mpeg so they will play on the home DVD player, but it's not useful if my northbridge gets turned into ashes.
