Love it Daddy, amazing! I haven't been hiking much this year, last time was back in May or June.. Been thinking about going out there these last couple of days, now that the summer is a bit less busy with a lot of non-summary stuff, but the weather is terrible here, we haven't had a single day without rain in the whole of August so far, sooo.. Yeah, we'll see. Hopefully in the next couple of weeks there will be a day when weather isn't too terrible and I can bring some fresh pictures.

I've had the terrible luck of rain, like this weekend. However, I plan to be out soon again. Hopefully this weekend, at least Sunday I'll be able to get on, and throw some G3 bullets your way.

With Covid, a lot of people took up day hiking, which is great. However, some areas in North Carolina, had to be closed up due to people leaving trash behind and what not. I guess in a way, why I avoid short hikes, I rather be out there if I'm doing a day hike 4-6 hours.  I hope so, I'd love to see some pictures of your area!

Very nice.  I am in the Smoky's this week.  Weather sucks balls though.....seems everytime I go on vacation I get chased by a damn tropical storm.

I know the feeling! We hiked up Shuckstack Tower trail on a Friday, a storm came in and had to hike in it. However that was a blast, with this Carolina heat.

I've always had this on my All Trails to do list, that's definitely quite the view, and I really need to go do it. Shortoff Mountain right?

  3. Howdy! Some of you may recall me! (Vaguely) I've been away for a bit, occupied with work and life. However, there have been brief times where I've been able to venture out into the woods. I intended to reply to my previous thread, but it was a little too old.
I'd love to see photos of everyone who has gone hiking this year!

Here's a preview of my trip to the Great Smoky Mountains National Park

  4. I love all these pictures! Thank you for keeping updated! I've been a little quiet, but also because this is almost my 3rd week straight working, them busted pipelines keep me on my toes. So working weekends, yeah money is great. Though it's fall time in the south, and I'm ready to climb up some hills!

    See you soon, hopefully!

  5.  @ShinyAbsol It's good to see the nice English countryside of things! I'm proud of you, and I look forward to seeing more and more and how your adventures turn out. I've been busy with work, this weekend I was on call, so I couldn't go anywhere.

I'm looking forward to fall season here in 2 months, and I'll be backpacking and I'll bring more photos. Hopefully not this weekend but next weekend coming up, I'll be able to go. So look forward to more on my end.

@MikZzona That's really pretty, and I'm envious of where you went. However, nice of you to share with us. I'm happy to see you also going out, and WE expect more from you as well.

@RobMc Show us at least the corner store, where you get your beer at.

  6. @MikZzona These are so beautiful and I'm sooooo jealous! We don't have alps around here like that here.

I"m glad you were able to go out and explore, and share these beautiful pictures with all of us. Personally I've been so busy that I haven't had time to go. Hopefully in about 2-3 weeks I"ll be able to go, and I'll update us all.

@ShinyAbsol Ma'am we're still waiting on that English countryside!

So will Shiny, pubs are reopening, remember to have a big meal before you set off Daddyo, the bears appreciate a full stomach, keeps them fed for a week.

They'll get mexican and asian at the same time. I'll be taking rice noodles to my hike.

I used to hike a lot back in the day......haven't been serious about it in years.  One of my best friends is vice president of the Cleveland Hiking Club, and I just told her yesterday at lunch that I want to start hiking again.  It will be a slow start for me to get back into the swing, but I'll post pics along my progress ?

Now that's what I like to hear, we'll be looking forward to your progress and of course the pics!

Couldn't see a damn thing for the fog.  I could see maybe 25-30 feet in front of the me the whole time, and I was the only person on the trail.  All I could hear was the moisture dripping off the plants and occasionally the sound of a small animal moving.  It was like the start of a horror movie.  Very eerie.

My man, I had 5 min of sunshine, and that was it. I got that fog, and it kinda sucked. Though what I was able to see, only made me want to come back again to it. Driving from 11-2:30AM then hiking it was an experience I loved, a bit scary for me. Though I prevailed and here we are.

I wanted to go hike the past two weekends, but weather was terrible in both instances. Today is midsommar, a celebration for the summer solstice, and the biggest celebration of the year in Sweden - a sort of unofficial National Day. Tradition dictates that it always, always, rains for midsommar. As I can see from my window, the tradition has been respected this year too, in no uncertain terms!

Weekdays are incredibly sunny and warm though (coincidence? I think not), so I'll try to escape for a while next Thursday or something.

Looks like you're having a great time @Daddyo!

You need to come join the fun!

@ShinyAbsol Miss, we're expecting English country side!

Hiked all over this place. This is Fox Mountain in Northwestern Nevada. The area below is the Black Rock Desert, where Burning Man is held every year, except for maybe this year!

That's lovely right there. I'm currently on my hike. Waiting for sun to come up. I've been at it since 3 am my time.

Went camping last weekend (bear encounter included at 2am... Luckily it scurried off away from outside of our tent after a few minutes!)

Went on a 5.5 hour hike the next morning! Wish I would have taken more pictures but was trying to keep up a good pace and survive the trail (barely did... Always bring more water than you think you need ?

Photo attached is from one of the openings by the lake!

That sounds lovely. This week, the weather has been great. I'll be hiking Grassy Ridge Bald tomorrow. About a 3.5 hour drive for me.
