this is me in Afghanistan 2008-2009 stationed at "Camp Northern Lights" this is a time from my life that made me look on things in other ways.

something like this will change a person for life. i can remember when we got in a crossfire and that shit scared the hell outta me but luckily nobody got hit.

in 2009 there were 855 swedish soldiers in place, but im sure that US had largeramount of troops there :)

we play games of war but in real life its no longer a game or a joke.

i made friends that i will keep in contact with til the end of my days.

anyone else that have photos or memories to share from been stationed abroad.

where you stationed, what year and what memories you have from there.

Will have a look at what pics I can put on, got some from Basrah Airbase Iraq 2007 & 2008, and some more recent of Kandahar airfield Afghanistan in May 2012, great time, great stories, great friends from all nations.

Heading back to sunny Kandahar in Aug this year for another tour :( wife aint too happy

Its not the location that makes or brakes a tour....... its the people you meet and work with, the banter, the laughs. the tears. We are a special breed of individuals, members and x members of the armed forces worldwide. Even after 23 years service, I am still immensely proud to be a member of a selective organisation or band of individuals including the coalition forces I have worked with over the years.

A mighty salute

Thanks for the post Rusty. And thanks for your service. I was looking through some old emails I had received from my sisters boyfriend who was a medic in a "classified" operation a few years ago and just thought I'd share. Sorry for blacking out the faces and the names of these fine men who served. But I felt it was best to do this.

Here are some RPG's they found on a sweep of a town and the supervised detonation of them.
