Hello Xi,

Wondering if I could get some input from the experts.

A few weeks ago I started to have issues with Cod2.

While playing, the game would freeze/lag for a half second or so every couple of minutes.  My ping is still pretty good (50 to 70ish).  I have uninstalled and reinstalled Cod2 and still have the problem.  This is a problem in both the Xi and DB servers I frequent.  So I don't think it is a server issue but an issue on my end.

I am running a 6 month old 27inch iMac so hardware isn't an issue as Cod2 has run fine until a few weeks ago. The iMac even handles Cod4 on the Xi servers with no issue with that game at all.

The only thing I can think of is this started to occur around the time (shortly after) I purchased and installed Cod4 on my iMac.

I don't want to uninstall and reinstall Cod4 as it is running well.  But I will give that a try if necessary.

Any other suggestions (beyond the "get a PC" suggestion)?

I've dealt with the same problem on and off for over a year. I think it has more to do with where you live than anything else. If your broadband carrier made a change to their cables or who knows what, it can have a big effect on your ping and create CI's during game play.

When they moved the COD2 DM servers a couple months ago my ping dropped by 20 percent on that server, but I still get occasional connection interruptions or CI's. The TDM server wasn't moved and my ping stayed the same which usually hovers around 100 and I get frequent CI's.

Only thing I can tell you is shut down back ground apps looking for updates....That will cause lag ....

All my updates are turned off to manual

On another note I too lag out and have been with 2 different Isp,s....Problem I have found with both is

bandwidth is over sold and congestion occurs at peak times and at off times as well when I suspect they switch

over routing....The company I am with is in the process of changing ownership so I have seen some changes already

Hope you can report back any updates so that others may be able to get help or perhaps help you

The possibility that it could be my isp never occurred to me. Primarily since Cod4 on line is nearly perfect.

But it can't hurt to put in a call to them. I'll give that a try this weekend.

Thanks guys.

Now tell the truth Loader. Your PC lags because you spilled a bottle of lube all over the keyboard. :rambo:
