Stuff like this could be sorted out WAY easier.

The kid must have been practically adult size. I can't imagine those deputies didn't think it might have been an air-soft gun or some kind of toy. But just 3 hours east of here that 13 year old kid went to school in Reno, killed a teacher and wounded a couple students a couple days ago, so I guess they were on edge. Very sad situation regardless of how it went down. Awards

One of my sons played with these and I pointed out that some folks might think it was real and call cops. But the end of airsoft rifles and pistols are suppose to be orange! I don't see that in this photo. Hmmm. I can see how this could happen if cops looked for and didn't see orange clue. Sad, nonetheless. Awards

Even if the boy didn't drop the gun immediately why would they open up on him? We don't know the whole story of course but I don't like the sound of this one. loaderXI 1 Awards

Probably telling him to drop his gun/weapon. Who knows...but there is always another side of the story. i wouldn't point fingers either way.. But sad as hell though... Awards

"The subject turned toward the deputies, and as he was doing that the barrel of the weapon was rising toward the deputies," said a spokesman. The deputies then fired. Deputies also found a plastic handgun in the boy's waistband. Sounds like they were acting as per their training. One wonders what a 13-year-old was doing carrying a replica handgun and AK-47. Awards

Yea, if that is indeed the case then the cops did the right thing. It's still just a shame... you could really consider it a suicide since he had to have known what was going to happen. loaderXI 1
