The kid must have been practically adult size. I can't imagine those deputies didn't think it might have been an air-soft gun or some kind of toy. But just 3 hours east of here that 13 year old kid went to school in Reno, killed a teacher and wounded a couple students a couple days ago, so I guess they were on edge. Very sad situation regardless of how it went down. Awards

"The subject turned toward the deputies, and as he was doing that the barrel of the weapon was rising toward the deputies," said a spokesman. The deputies then fired. Deputies also found a plastic handgun in the boy's waistband. Sounds like they were acting as per their training. One wonders what a 13-year-old was doing carrying a replica handgun and AK-47. Awards
