I'm pretty much a military gear/weapons/vehicles buff. I think military technology and strategy is super awesome.

Anyways I just found my Grandfathers Blue Jacket Manual (naval training guide) from 1944. I am having so much fun reading this book. It is the last edition for WW2, and has so much cool information. They pretty much trained them in the field using this manual so almost everything they would have learned in basic is compressed into it because in ww2 they wanted to get them out in the field of operation as soon as possible.

Right now I am reading about squad distances and intervals between soldiers, and where to take  cover in a skirmish, and how spread out to stay. pretty interesting stuff. I bet I could apply some of these tactics to battlefield.

and this guy is one of my favorite battlefield 4 youtubers. he isnt  THE best, but i really enjoy listening to him, and how he describes his tactics. its funny though right when hes talking about paying attention at 1:30 he doesnt hear the elevator door open.

I certainly pay attention to military technology. I typically end up reading or hearing about some sort of neat new tech out there. Watched several vids over the years about the US railgun, which is just nuts. MetalStorm is another weapon system that comes to mind. Oh and AA laser tech? That shit is p crazy too. Tracking and shooting an artillery shell in the air with a laser(and more than one)?!?

I collect a lot of WW2 stuff.  My mom and stepdad just got back from Europe last week and brought me this back.  They found it at a small antique shop near Normandy.

I am working on trying to get the serials off of it so I can see where it was manufactured and used.

105 mm rounds - 1943

Aside from this I have a German Nazi helmet, tons of medals, spent ammunition, rpgs, ammo cans, etc, etc.

One of these years I will find myself a true M1 Carbine from the war.

That or a Ruger MKII

Love WWII. I was helping a friend clean out an attic after their grandfather's death and we found a scrap book that went from 1939 through the end of the war. had pictures from basic training and things like that. Cool stuff.

I've read a lot of war diaries, and I love them.

Books like "The Taliban don't wave" , "No easy day" , and "Outside the wire" are all good.

I sometimes try and translate what I read in these books into some of the games I play.

I have had the thought many times to form up a squad and run with real tactics just to see how applicable it is.

If you are in my squad, and not babbling about something non game related, this is how I play.   I tell my guys what flank to take, what flag to head to, where I am on their clock location, where I am going next, what flank I am taking, if guys are on the minimap and what direction they are.   I just wish more people would want to play tactically.  I've never found anyone that wants to act as a real squad.

What's playing as a squad? I thought this was about individual accolades.
