This morning as I have magic Jack I tried to make a call to check my bus ride pickup time for n the morning. I could hear the operator very clearly but they couldn't hear me at all. I tried on two different headsets and the same thing happened. I reset and reset the defaults trying to see what the problem is and nothing. I have a new and used headset I use but no output is heard. Any ideas as to what the problem is would be much obliged! Thank you for your time and effort! I just did get sound when I rap gently on my mic but my booming voice directly into it barely gets a rouse in response!

First of all is your headset a usb type or usb/aux jack type?

I ask this because in the usb/aux type one of the aux jacks is responsible for the mic. If the female connector in your pc is broke the mic signal will not work.

Secondly, swapping headsets can restore your settings to default and your pc may not recognise the mic in your headset as the default signal to use for voice input. Go into sound options, settings, and make sure your headset is the default for both speakers and the mic.

Also make sure that the mute check box is not ticked in sound options as well.

Because you have said you tried a new and used set then that rules out broken mic itself.

If it's a new machine then that pretty much rules out broken female jack.

I say defaults are whack. Let me know how you get on. :)
