Here is a new an very frustrating problem that has started happening on my pc.

I join a server, and it begins to download the map whether I actually have that map or not. It will try to start downloading it but will seem to get "stuck" for an instant then try to begin downloading it again. It never actually begins to download the map, it just tries to start. It will do this about 3 times, which takes maybe 5 seconds and then it will just drop out of the game altogether and I have to end task with the Task Manager.

Steps I have taken to fix this issue:

1. I removed most of the maps from my 'user maps' file.

2. Updated the XI Downloader to the new version, completely uninstalling the old version first.

3. I have uninstalled and reinstalled COD4, 2 times now.

4. The only recent change made on my pc just before this started to occur was to install a VPN so my wife can access her pc at work. I uninstalled the VPN client software, still same problem.

I don't know what else to do. Someone hopefully can help me out here.

I have included a link to a video I took of this happening, hopefully it will help.

Thanks for any help.

Got it figured out. It was the Phishing filter on my anti-virus software. For some reason it started blocking the xiredirect2.com site. I set xiredirect2.com as a trusted site and no problem.

Thanks,

Sleepy
