New processors will only be supported by Windows 10 now. Windows update will throw an error when searching for Windows updates, although you could use WSUS offline update on Windows 7 and 8.1

So it sounds like the new processors are fine and there is no hardware issue but that when microsoft scans them they simply wont allow wu to work otherwise. That doesnt seem exactly legal.
