Each of the Vietnam maps poses its own challenges to which the players have to adapt. Being Vietnam, of course it has foliage - jungle! It looks like the server's popularity is growing too - 7 vs 7 last night. Very entertaining and, as SweatnBullets says, a great bunch of players!

RE: MP_BROADCAST For those unfamiliar with this map - the one from CoD4 featuring the TV studio - there is a problem with it. If a player releases dogs, all players are severely affected by lag to the extent that the server kicks some. Two of us at least lost our scores, last night, when PunkBuster "lost heartbeat" and kicked us. So, PLEASE don't let any dogs out! The technical gurus have been told, I gather, so hopefully this feature will be switched off. (Dogs never come in the Remagen map when called so I guess they have been disabled in that one already for whatever reason.) Good map otherwise, though!

I finally got round to installing Crysis Warhead and Wars, yesterday, with a view to giving it a try. I hope it works properly under Windows 7 as Crysis doesn't, despite what Microsoft says. Anyway, I have checked for Crysis Wars updates from the game itself but that hasn't brought down a v1.5 patch I have seen on FilePlanet and elsewhere. First question is: is v1.5 a cumulative patch or are there others between 1.0.0.1 (?) and that? I have the XI Downloader installed so will check for maps to download before playing. Anything else I need? Look forward to seeing you all on the battlefield...

It's connected with the Realtek sound driver. I found a very easy accidental fix - I installed a Steelseries USB soundcard and since then no problem whatsoever. (Not wishing to teach you to suck eggs but this problem is common and a search on Google brought up 41,600 hits on the error - whenever I hit something like this, it is always my first source of potential fixes as someone else is sure to have been there, done that and won through! ). Good luck!

It only took one power cut due to a thunderstorm, causing major hard drive problems, a reformat and full re-installation to convince me to buy a UPS... Thoroughly recommended to all even if you don't live in an area where these are common! Anti-surge protection all over the house nowadays!

Rick, Good job with this server! I've become a fan of freezetag and have enjoyed the games played so far. Some questions for you: i) I was sniffing around codutility.com and saw mention of a new version of the Vietnam mod that addresses some bugs and glitches - is this the one that's installed?; ii) Enjoyed our games, last night, but something caused great puzzlement - "RickJames has been targeted for assassination!" came up on our screens and a red arrow indicated your position (on the Makin map). So, we all converged to rub you out and found you frozen and being defrosted. What was happening? ; iii) Following your enquiry in-game whether we wanted the stats box on the top right side of the screen to stay or go, there were various responses for and against. Can this be switched off via a console command on an individual basis by the user himself? Freeze or defrost you later... DeeJay'

My questions have been answered in game, so no need to post. We had a 6 v 6 on there, last night, so it's proving rather popular!

Played my first freezetag game on there, yesterday - I think I know what I was doing and how it works... Is there a 'readme' floating about that newbies can use to answer their FAQs? For example, I guess that speech is routed only to ones team mates during the game and then opened up to all when it finishes? I was defrosted twice but have no idea how... Google here I come??

Hope you're soon back in action. I bought Crysis Warhead myself, this week, with a view to trying out the MP game on here. I am now waiting for the local telephone exchange to recognise my home wiring is no longer spitting noise out so the connect speed returns to normal before I can play anything. So frustrating... It's a bit like taking the car to be fixed then being told by the mechanic that it'll only do 10mph for the next five days! Aaaargh!

Thanks for the suggestion, Dogg. Everything's on hold for the time being. Had a major noise problem on the phone line that knocked out my broadband connection. The engineer came and fitted new phone sockets that got rid of the crackling on the line but the IP profile is firmly stuck at 135 kbps now and I'm waiting for the Internet Service Provider to reset that to something I can use beyond crawling around the web and email... I miss my daily dose of carnage! See y'all on the battlefield soon, I hope (may be another three or so days, though...).
