  1. Well, no one mentioned country music, did they?

    Yup!

  4. It moved on to Denmark where planes were circling waiting for the wind to drop at Copenhagen Airport so they could land! Gusts of 115mph over there! Top here was 99mph on the Isle of Wight.
  5. Before they closed the Port of Dover... https://twitter.com/DoverFerryPhoto/status/394836337460654080/photo/1/large

  7. It's now brightened up and the worst has passed. The death toll in the region is now three. Here's a picture of the St Jude mystery object. I reckon I now know what it is - can you guess?
  8. A husband and wife are shopping in their local Wal-Mart. The husband picks up a case of Budweiser and puts it in their cart. "What do you think you're doing?" asks the wife. "They're on sale, only $10 for 24 cans," he replies. "Put them back, we can't afford them," demands the wife, and so they carry on shopping. A few aisles further on along the woman picks up a $20 jar of face cream and puts it in the basket. "What do you think you're doing?" asks the husband. "Its my face cream. It makes me look beautiful," replies the wife. Her husband retorts: "So does 24 cans of Budweiser and it's half the price." On the PA system: "CLEAN UP, on aisle 25, we have a husband down!"
  9. Live updates and a picture of the sea off @coolmd 's home town... http://www.telegraph.co.uk/topics/weather/10407815/Weather-St-Judes-UK-storm-live.html One death reported so far in Kent.
  10. Family and friends have reported large trees down and one is reported to have come down in the road I am supposed to use to get to the hospital... We are intact so far though St Jude has gifted us a mystery object from the sky. It looks a bit like a hatch cover with an air vent in it from a boat... However, it is terracotta-coloured so may have been ripped from a house/roof. It's still blowing out there with some powerful gusts. A friend was en route to Dunkerque today by ferry but the Port of Dover has been closed and services cancelled.
  11. +1 I fear the emergency services (what's left of them!) will be very busy indeed...
  12. House on fire? Save family - check! Get yourself out - check! Run back into burning house to save beer? Errr.... http://metro.co.uk/2013/10/26/walter-serpit-georgia-man-returns-to-burning-house-to-save-beer-4161941/
  13. Better make the old man some flasks, DeathWave! Folkestone was flooded last night and the main event has not yet begun. Dover lifeboat was out at sea too. I don't like it when the BBC weather forecaster uses words like "quite dangerous"! Batten down the hatches and weigh down anything that can fly.
  14. No, you don't. It is 67.5% ABV. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alcohol_proof
  15. At £50 per bottle, I shan't be trying it any time soon! http://metro.co.uk/2013/10/26/bubblegum-flavoured-snake-venom-beer-is-worlds-strongest-and-certainly-has-a-nasty-bite-4162078/

  17. Good to see you on here, Mutt! Enjoy your company on the game servers and hope you'll stick around!
  18. Clearly, the UK's defence ministry isn't the only one in the world occupied by people with strange ideas... Really?! Are there any former or serving USMC personnel who would care to comment on this proposal for redesign of the headwear? The current caps look great! Why anyone would want to change them, I do not know... http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/northamerica/usa/10404395/Outcry-at-French-looking-US-Marine-hats.html
  19. This is very true...
  20. Well, mate, we'll see how it shapes up. The current forecast down here has the wind speed around 60mph but, if it gets too hairy, I am not driving anywhere in it! FML! I go to the hospital two to three times per year to see the specialist and this weather comes along... The wife has to get to/from work on a bus through the country roads so that, I fear, may be interesting! The worst storm for five years but not quite up to "Great Storm 1987" strength hopefully.
  21. Well, your anthem is even longer (and to be fair, we usually only sing the first verse of ours - few people know the rest!). I do like the mention of green foliage in the Danish one, however. You can't beat a nice thick bush...
  22. Are there no staff/ushers in American cinemas whom one could approach to have such morons ejected?
  23. Two masses of cloud from over the Great Lakes and Florida will merge before crossing the Atlantic and hitting the UK, says the Met Office. Winds up to 85mph and a lot of rain from Monday with a risk of disruption. So, if it goes quiet from your Brit buddies, there may be a power cable or two down... I have to drive through this cr*p on Monday morning to a hospital appointment...
