Family and friends have reported large trees down and one is reported to have come down in the road I am supposed to use to get to the hospital... We are intact so far though St Jude has gifted us a mystery object from the sky. It looks a bit like a hatch cover with an air vent in it from a boat... However, it is terracotta-coloured so may have been ripped from a house/roof. It's still blowing out there with some powerful gusts. A friend was en route to Dunkerque today by ferry but the Port of Dover has been closed and services cancelled.

Well, mate, we'll see how it shapes up. The current forecast down here has the wind speed around 60mph but, if it gets too hairy, I am not driving anywhere in it! FML! I go to the hospital two to three times per year to see the specialist and this weather comes along... The wife has to get to/from work on a bus through the country roads so that, I fear, may be interesting! The worst storm for five years but not quite up to "Great Storm 1987" strength hopefully.
