  1. Yes the game runs way smoother, and even our servers are crashing less... So we're getting there. Now, we need maps large enough, so it actually makes sense of using other weapons than the SMGs...and it's actually feasible snipe, without a spawner appearing behind you...we're dying WAY too fast in this game...that adds up to the frustration.. TREYARCH! Patch the darn game!
  2. Nice!!!! FINALLY, a red dot sight for M14 and G3 rifles! 2.4GB patch... This patch also prepares for the UPCOMING maps (downloadable for free in the next few days) and also prepares for the VIETNAM expansion pack (that will be sold for $15 on all platforms)....
  3. Howdy all. This is a good review from TECHREPORT. All the latest graphics cards from GTX460 and up in SLI or Crossfire configs for dual-card FPS goodness. At least, it helps one to make an "educated" decision in reference with the latest offerings, power draw, GPU scaling and gaming benchmarks... Techreport also posts what it's called the "daily shortbread", a mixture of hardware news and reviews...great morning read for geeks and mofos... FOR THE REVIEW, THERE YOU GO!!! http://techreport.com/articles.x/20043/1
  4. The main advantage of the 580 over the 480 is (besides the 15-20% increase in perf) is the lower temperatures and less noise....(lower fan RPM)....it's still a powerhog, just a little more civilized than GTX480...
  5. Running a XFX Radeon HD5870 with the latest Catalyst drivers. I get NO game crashes, lag or ANY other issues BUT the connection interrupt annoyance....
  6. I think I still use 10.10a...any incentives to try something newer? Win7 64 bits XFX HD5870 Reference
  7. Seems like that post created a lot of reactions and I agree with everybody here, including PRIMAL...basically, it's why I mentioned that we'll have to WAIT AND SEE. Nothing set in stone here. But, it's crystal-clear that the multiplayer itself will stay free....at least the actual version of the game. If more content comes, like maps or extra weapons, there is CHANCES that they ask money for those ADD-ONS...microtransaction, is what it is...something like an extra 5$ here, a 10$ there...you catch my drift... Who knows..they could come up with something retarded like a *********EXAMPLE HERE********* Nuclear strike streak option + superduper dual-wielding death machines for 5$ on STEAM....and some people WOULD get this....you know what I mean.... As for CHILE, I guess he's a little "afraid" of getting tomahawked, ballistic-knifed or RC-buggy C4'rd...that's why he's staying away from Blackops...
  8. Alright, Now that blackops is still giving us some headaches (for some users at least), Activision shows more of it's true nature... Consider this a pretty much a rumor until it comes online, but here we go: http://www.mcvuk.com/news/41932/Premium-COD-multiplayer-resurfaces Wait and see....it the PC map packs are being sold instead of being freebies....I'll freak out...
  9. True that RickJames, COD5 got patched several times.... There is less an less games that work flawlessly at launch...we'll have to "adapt and overcome" this stuff.

I managed to win a "stick and stone" wager match (second time I played). LIke cheese, I bankrupted the poor dude almost at the last second, the guy was within close range tho. It's a good feeling! It's also really frustrating when you're the victim!
  11. Jeez, both TDM and FFA kept crashing every two or three maps all afternoon. Ridiculous.
  12. I second most people and say that I would go for either GTX460 1GB version or a HD6000-series card. some info on benchmarks, comparisons, power draw and overclocking capability. Hardwarecanucks is beyond reproach when time comes for straight up legit reviews... http://www.hardwarecanucks.com/forum/hardware-canucks-reviews/37499-hd-6870-hd-6850-vs-gtx-460-1gb-overclocking-study.html
  13. I'm darn sure it's the game. It's based off COD4 and COD5 game engine. None of us had issues with 4 or 5 , so there is no excuse for BO. I run a HD5870, and in Badcompany 2 DX11 full details at 1680 X 1050, I never drop below 60 FPS... It's not normal to get spikes and lags in BO, which is old tech game engine....jeez game full stops? ,server disconects booting everybody at once? It's not our hardware. It's the combination of STEAM+VAC+TREYARCH marvelous work...dunno, GAMESERVER used to be reliable...I tend NOT to blame them for this mess...
  14. Our >XI< people don't talk much using in-game chat while playing BO compared to other games...coincidence? Because the game itself is one thing, the "friendly-social" aspect is another...
  15. Thanks Sun, It worked nicely!
  16. Well, As of today, you can get a GTS450 for $130, or a HD5770 for about the same. The HD5770 is as fast as a GTX260 from last year and faster than GTS250. Like BUSH APE mentioned, every 3 to 6 months, there is faster cards available...impossible to keep up! Right now, there is 3 models of GTX460 for $169 on NEWEGG.com...which is a lot more powerful than a HD5770/GTS450... EVOOL: You can also enable the FPS overlay in XFIRE...when you're at it, you can enable the clock too in the overlay, so you get a small fps counter (top left) and the time of the day, small (top right)...nice
  17. Got mine from Wally mart in Canada. $59
  18. SGT HARRY, Nice rig BTW....no it's NOT your computer...jeez, with an i5 and SLI GTX460 you'll be doing great for a long time! You must just have got this rig in the last month! I get some of that sudden freeze (like 2 seconds at 1FPS) once in a while too... ATI HD5870 and OCed Q9550 @3.8GHz CPU...the rest of the time, I get from 90 to 125FPS steady at max details... All my other games are OK...and my gear is also OK... So it's the darn game!!!
  19. Congrats DEER!!! Canucks are idiots...I know I am....
  20. Oh Larsin, i was refering to the HD6870 and GTX460 as high midrange cards...($250 avg) The GTX580 and HD5970 are indeed top dogs!!! Now, let's see how the new AMD HD6970 (HD5870 successor) fares against the GTX580....just curious...the HD6990 (HD5970 successor with dual-GPU) will be interesting to watch... If I was upgrading my monitor, I would like to grab a better, faster card, but on a 22" at 1680 X 1050, my XFX HD5870 is still more than enough...
  21. I'd say yes. The Phenom II is almost equivalent to an Intel Core 2 Quad in Socket 775, which is pretty good. It's less powerful than a Core i5 or i7, but it's still a pretty good gaming CPU... www.cpubenchmark.net/high_end_cpus.html
  22. Sry Larsin, you forgot the GTX580 that just came out on November 11th! It's a nice card, and it runs cooler than GTX480, while being 15% more powerful. WIZID, Those cards were nice also, and I agree that AMD HAS to work on Crossfire scalability...but I think you can run two HD5970 can't you? Dunno about the particular case of the Hd4870X2 tho... All in all, with ATI/AMD, you dont want to go more that 2 cards (or two chips) for that matter...to stay out of trouble... nVIDIA SLI scales so much better
  23. The GTX570 WILL be out soon, in December actually, which might create price drops on GTX470s...I don't like GTX470s for the simple fact that they are power hogs and run warm as hell. The fan is spinning fast to cool down that beast and it's noisy. Other than that the GTX470 is a good performer. GTX570 will run cooler... But of the two cards you pointed at, the 470 is faster than the HD5850... GTX470 load temps: HD5850 Load temps: It's in celsius of course... I canceled my GTX470 pre-order when it came out, when I figured the temperatures and the NOISE!!! out. I bought a HD5870 instead (10% faster than GTX470 in MOST games), but cooler. I like nVIDIA, but I'd either got for a GTX460 (mid-range card) or a Radeon HD6870 (already mentioned by above poster), or wait for GTX570 (december)....price drops also on HD5850, HD5870, GTX470 and GTX480 My two cents...
