For some reason, this AI stuff makes me think of a tv series, Battlestar Galactica. Us making machines, those machines rising against us and wiping us out.
As humans learn from experience and mistakes, yes the AI will probably do that but what I see is that when we make these things, we ourselves are becoming less 'human' because there will a LOT less human interaction with things and we depend WAY too much on technology. I can imagine what this world would be like if we were thrown back into the stone age. People might actually start to socialise in the old fashioned way and realise that with the technology they depended so much on: Oh shit. What do I do now? I am so bored without technology I have no idea what to do. (Well that will be what I think might happen, some people wouldn't be affected so much because we have books!)
