  1. @@eidolonFIRE is referring to my car's ESP system engaging and limiting the power output to transmission. When this is happens my RPM is limited to 2500. So when I get to a stop sign, I turn off the car and turn it back on and the system is cleared of the "hazardous" event detected. Hence the term reboot. This is the extreme circumstance normally the computer just applies braking to the right wheel so the car stays straight and doesn't spin out of control. It's a standard feature on Mercedes. I have experienced it more during the rainy season since my tire tread is is low and I have been procrastinating with the tire change.. !FU FIRE
  2. I is drives the Germans.... I hate Priuses, always hogging the left lane with their Econo plus mode (60mph).
  3. Windows 8.1 apart from the metro interface is a terrific OS. Very efficient in memory usage more secure, patched flaws from Windows 7. I can leave my Windows 8.1 machine on for months and still not get sluggish performance as experienced with Windows 7. Not to mention it offers better graphics performance for games. Windows 10, and I am guessing, is aimed at addressing the short comings stemming from Windows 8. They tried to make Windows 8 one interface for all devices but realized the desktop market is still different than mobile.
  4. !FU. It's called Electronic Stability Program (ESP). It protects the car by disabling extra power to the transmission when it detects wheel spin, thanks to the shitty bay area roads. I "reboot", as you put it, because basically I know I am not actually spinning or skidding all over the road. Plus my tires are spent, that makes a big difference in the ESP detecting an over spin. Once I have the new tires on, I will take you out on a drive over the Calaveras bend, you will how well planted the car is around 50 degree turns. Yeah fuck that guy, I don't trust him.

  7. Yeah well when no ones on the road I hit 3 digits and really push it. In less than 3 seconds i am at 130+ mph. Only lasts 5-10 sevonds but it gives you that adrenaline fix.
  8. Hi Nous, Good to know you a bit better, welcome to the XI forums. And FUCK YOU!

  10. The difference is not that game changing, you may try it and find out for yourself. Set Model detail to Low, that's all you need.
  11. When I bought my car I had esurance, the same day I bought the car I had a fender bender in a parking lot with my rental. I pay 6 months at a time so Esurance naturally tried to jack up my rate after the 6 months. I switched to Geico, they were cheaper and did not penalize me for the fender bender even though the repair cost for the other car were over $2K. I have had Geico since mid-2012 and have not been able to find anyone with the same level of coverage for cheaper. Thankfully have not needed to file a claim but I have a minor brush off the rear bumper that I intend to have them fix. For public reference I will update this thread on my experience. From what my friends have told me if your claim is less than $500 they don't jack up your rates or try to find ways to deny your claim.
  12. That's what I had in mind too that feeling your car is just planted on the road.
  13. Thanks for the input guys, I live very to close to work (~5 miles) and most of my regular commuting activities are within a 10 mile radius. I have never kept a car long enough to replace tires on it, so believe it or not this is a first for me. Taking in all I have read I think the pragmatic choice for me is the OEM tires since I plan to change the car later this year. Right now I have the C350 and I have my eye on the new C63AMG. Anyways, thanks again for info, much appreciated.
  14. Hi All, I need some recommendations for tires. Where I live its mostly dry weather, we get rainfall for 2-3 months of the year and occasionally I drive up to the mountains in the snow during winter. My car is a RWD with 258 lb/ft torque. Right now I have the Continental ContiProContact 245-40-17 and they're down to 2/32" tread in 3years giving me ~20K miles. I do tend to hit the gas pedal a bit just really enjoy that kick from the acceleration especially when getting on the ramp. I do go driving on curvy roads occasionally but about 8 0% of my driving is on straight stretches of highway. I have been reading reviews, specs on tirerack.com and other websites. From the looks of the Pirelli suits my driving style but I am concerned about their mileage rating. I am interested in the 91 V/W/Z rating. I was thinking of sticking with what I have right now but then I wondered if there is something better than these OEM tires. I will post pictures of the current front and rear tires. Thank you for reading.
