I sell trucks for a living and that small V8 will tow 5000 lbs stock but the better you can make it breath the better. I would recommend a 3 inch exhaust and a K&N filter, since most K&N's are bolt on you can remove the air filter cover or drill big holes for more air flow and you should about 25 horsepower increase. No need for a chip as it won't boost much and is pricey. Remember your load is everything inside the truck and trailer above you and a full tank of gas. Does it have A/C ? if so it will have heavy duty radiator and extra cooling. trailor brake controler?

Hello Zoe, some ideas for places to stay, The Beverly Garland Hotel in Universal City Ca is close to Universal studios and Citiwalk and is in a nice area for lots of things and located in the middle of So Cal. The Super 8 motel in Monterey is nice too and not overly priced.
