Duke is still dying really easy from headshots, had two die pretty much instantly today. Also they should be able to jump a little to get over small curbs as they get stuck at certain points in the map. Thanks. -

For the people that have said "lol the old mod is up, go play there if you want". There is more to it than that. As several have pointed out, part of playing on the server is a sense of community, splitting off to another server and having reduced numbers on both doesn't sound much fun. The server is always most fun when it is full. If you haven't noticed the new guns affecting the gameplay on the server, then it must not have affected your own style of play. For the now many who have posted in this thread that there is an issue, it has. The whole point of this thread is to put forth new ideas. Perhaps a few have said let's go back to the old mod, a lot of us have not. A lot of us were enjoying the first 3-4 weeks when the new mod was playing, then the smr was abruptly changed, right after the new mod was put onto the main server. I think many of us are currently "waiting and seeing" how things progress. A lot of us have been playing here for years and are not just suddenly going to drop off. However, inevitably if people are finding things less enjoyable they will move on or play less, and as previously pointed out I don't think there are enough new people playing the game to replace them. -

I honestly despair. Yes wanting to have an accurate gun makes me a hacker. You are using some seriously twisted logic. It looks like about 75% or so of the server were using 333 as I had to help an absolute ton of people to change it back, all regulars. I guess the entire F4H clan are also a bunch of hackers seeing as their server is set to that. But ok, let's have nerfed guns because otherwise we are hackers at heart. I don't think there is much more to say, we clearly have vastly different opnions on this. Changing a formula that has worked for years and gotten a server into the top 10 is risky business, especially in a dying game. Potentially alienating even a small percentage of the core user base which is probably now irreplaceable is asinine. Nothing I say is going to convince you though. You have your opinion and I have mine. That is fine, it's all good. -

It is fair because everyone gets to use it? These are the guns we have been playing with and enjoying for years. Are you even open to some sort of compromise? How about trying the settings half way between what they were and what they are now? If I had it my way I'd have that gun and others like it and reduce health down and make the server far more hardcore, but it isn't all about what I want I understand that. But I feel enough people have raised a concern over the new settings that it at least warrants trying something else. The new settings have drastically affected the recoil, accuracy etc. -

I understand Sammy has done a lot and continues to do so, but disagree he should be given so much personal control over what changes should be made. I have no control over this though so my opinion is irrelevant. I think the evidence regarding the guns speaks for itself, although as always everyone will have their own perspective. I'm sure there are plenty who will prefer a more softcore approach. Don't worry Thunder, rest assured the playing field hasn't been leveled, just altered. -

Yes 8 of us have asked for something to be changed, over 10 if you include those that liked those posts. You aren't listening because you and possibly others behind the scenes want the guns a certain way. That isn't democracy. I haven't seen one person come on and say the smr update since Friday is a good thing. Incorrect from what perspective? Surely the only perspective that matters is how enjoyable the guns are to use for the players on the server? We played this new mod for 3-4 weeks and then as it is put onto the main server Sammy decides that the center time is 5% off on one of the guns that many of us use, massively lowering its accuracy in the process. 8 of us have now asked questioned this, more than 10 if you include people that have liked these posts specifically. Sammy claims that all he changed was the center time on the SMR by 5%. Looking at the above wall of text I don't see center time so it must be called something else. It obviously would be a quick fix to change it back. I don't see all the posts from the last 4 weeks saying that the smr was a problem, until Friday when it was changed because Sammy decided to even though no one was complaining about it. I don't see how it is unreasonable to change it back. I was quite enjoying playing the new server up until last week. Some things I don't like so much like heist, others like the defroster crossbow I do like. I preferred the old semtex grenades. I like some of the new sound and light effects. The SMR wasn't quite as good as the old saritch but it is now awful. Where is the compromise? -

I think you are deflecting and are guilty of exactly what you are accusing some of us off. I think you should go back and reread my extensive reply on the last page and the quotes from a good number of regulars who have played the server for years. I can't see how it comes across as trying to "dominate everyone else to get their way". You are simply writing off our legitimate concerns to try and get your own way, as evidenced by "so you stop trying and focus on doing what needs to be done. So onward." I certainly don't have all the answers. The vast majority may very well like the new guns. That is fine, it may well just be time for some of us to move on. -

Too easy to use according to who? You? The settings, whatever they are, aren't incorrect if that is what people prefer and want. You are allowing your own personal bias to affect what changes are being made. This isn't the Sammy server and it baffles me why you are given near carte blanche to make these decisions and we have to fight tooth and nail to get any kind of change. -

@Sammy These are 6 people, 7 including myself that have made posts about the guns after the latest update a few nights ago. I've also discussed this in server with a few others such as @@Tron, @chewonmysax to name a few. You were condescending to me in your previous reply and ignored most of my post, and then ignored my next post entirely. I appreciate you said you were having a bad day the other night so I will try again. We do not have the same information on the guns available to us that you do. Saying a guns settings are incorrect means nothing to us. I asked you to provide more information on gun settings to provide more context but I don't see a response. The only thing that we can go off of is our previous experience with the guns/settings from the old mod, other mods from cod4 and the stock version. These guns/settings are now harder to play with, and take more shots to kill than in the previous mod. You being the creator of the new mod decided to do this. Quite a number of us have now expressed an interest in trying some more accurate/deadly guns/settings, or bringing back previous guns/settings that were more accurate/deadly. This isn't about number of kills and who is best, that won't change much as everyone has the same guns/settings available to them. This is purely about fun. For the 1.46 mod the saritch and saw were the most accurate/deadly and the guns used by most people. My previous suggestion, now also suggested by @google is to make more guns that are on a par with these guns available. I appreciate that there must be a ton of work involved in creating/altering/updating a new mod, and perhaps it can be vexing to you after putting a lot of work in that people disparage certain things. I don't know why it was decided or by who however that we actually needed a new mod, considering we have server that has been in the top 10 for most of the last year. Sometimes a fresh coat of paint isn't a bad thing though. If there were a bunch of people in here praising how awesome the guns/settings were then I would just have to accept that people loved them. That is not what I am reading. This whole process is supposed to be about tweaking the mod and getting it just right. Without more evidence and context, just because you say a setting is incorrect, doesn't make it so. Several people have now voiced concern that the guns aren't quite right. So let's tweak them either back to what they were or try something different. -

Something really wrong with the Saritch (smr) now. Was about 10 feet from brock (who was stationary) lined up the headshot and did single shots and took 3 or so to actually get a hit on target. The difference from yesterday is massive. All of the auto assault rifles now suck at distance. Whatever changing 5% center time does is awful, if that is truly all that changed. I see exe and giggles both brought this up as well. Rather than nerfing the better guns, I'd rather more decent ones were made available. I like playing hardcore, not empty half a mag and hope for the best. Here is an idea I'd like to try and I know quite a few others would. Let's get several really accurate guns with one shot one kill bullet damage on leg/torso shots. Put the saritch back the way it was and beef up the hk416 or whatever it's called. Bring back that gun @iboomboom always goes on about from some old mod. Add in the old stock m4 carbine. I'd personally much rather have that than going in the nerfing direction, but maybe others see it differently. Can we actually get a list of the factors that go into a guns make up. Recoil/damage/center time/hipfire and whatever else. Like how would one go about making the old hk416 gun on a par with the old saritch for example. Let's try that. -

Yeh the noise thing is weird, was happening all over the place. Not sure what happened with the mismatch as I didn't get it personally, there were maybe 5-6 people getting it? Maybe one of them will answer. It was on mp_sab. Can you check the bullet damage? Definitely feeling a lot more softcore than yesterday. Taking more bullets to kill people. Had quite a few people mention it. -

Chewy getting an inordinate amount of tactical nukes from care packages, not sure if insanely lucky or something is broken. Two in one map there and I know he got another last night. Now Reaper got one. Edit - Had a few people ask if more recoil has been added to Smr. The latest update feels more softcore than it did, less bullet damage? People also getting filesum mismatch on mp_sab. Also there are now random defrost/gunfire/reload noises. It's like there is someone there but there isn't. Happened on mp_sab and mp_fr_street so far. -

I know the mod is still being tested but the original server has now drifted to rank 40 from a high of 11 last month and the 1.47 is up to rank 62. Might be an idea to rename the new/test server to freezetag at least from tdm. Is it time for a new rotation as well? Don't know if these maps are being specifically tested. -

A little torn on the first to 3 rather than 5. It's nice to be able to play more maps in a night but some of them seem a little short. I know it was set to first to 4 on the third version before it was reset, so would like to see that tried again on the next update. Someone mentioned something last night I had noticed as well - spare guns sometimes float in mid air now rather than dropping to the ground. A few of us discussed combat medic briefly as well, not sure what the plan is there. Don't use it much myself anymore but there isn't much point in having it if it only gives you another 2 seconds, would be better just replaced with something else at that point.
