Question is your game from a Steam download ? or installed with your cd drive ?

Try using firefox for your browser see if that helps https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/new/ IE sucks and Google uses at least 2gigs of ram and the add ons suck and hopefully you didnt upgrade Java to 7 I think if you did you have to go and uninstall it and install 6u4.3 or you can disable it all together then just when needed click run plugin this time when you are prompted to update or install Java SE Runtime Environment 6u43

Xfire is known to cause a crash while loading maps if it is running while the rotation occurs Try with out Xfire and see if the problem goes away

Just had a attempt on one of mind that was ip blocked which prevented full access but im in Florida and the attempt was in Washington State Had to change too
