  1. I like the hot rod look idea. Maybe some time in the future when I have time. OTHO, if anyone is good at working with skinning the current image for the rc can be altered.
  2. edit: As for the name, no it cant. Not to get to technical about it but the reason the car originally was so hard to kill was because the hitbox for the player was still there and would block shots. The only way around that was some sleight of hand that hid the player completely so it would not block anything. Unfortunately hiding the player also meant hiding the name as well as his team icon.
  3. Yup made a change. The rc will have a basic green trail behind it similar to how nades do in BO. Only the friendly team will see it. So far it works but really needs testing in a large mp environment. I tried several methods to get a head icon on moving objects to work and the game just wont do it for non-players it unless I make it an 'objective' like the bomb or flag is. However the game will only allow a max of 16 of them at any one time which is why in very large freezetag games players will sometimes not have the snowflake icons. To get them players have to be made objectives.
  4. Anyways, OT but since the RC's are used so much we added a little bit of extra help to those that want to use it. When the RC is hit by EMP it is dead. The player is disconnected from it and respawned. The RC remains at that location and activates a 20 second self-destruct timer. Then it explodes. The test vid is of an ambient EMP blast but the nades work the same way. Also, the vid got cut off so it doesnt show it exploding but its there. http://www.xfire.com/video/54dd3e/
  5. That is a known issue. Hopefully the next beta will fix that. Never did really find the cause but maybe things were happening too fast. So changed the order of how the various functions are activated. Also, as seen on Fubar the Care Package heli doesnt leave. That is a map problem and the mapper neglected to include some heli-nodes needed. I suspect it was designed as a sniper map and mappers often do that. In such cases it should have done an AC130 drop instead but didnt. Other maps that lack heli-support entirely will do no heli attacks but the player will be notified so he can change it in the loadout.
  6. Looks like a sniper map. Which one is it?
  7. edit: forgot to add that there are mappers that dont think about air weapons like ac130 when designing their maps. So you will see things like one sided roofs and dishes floating in the air. But it is physically still there and will register as a hit. Same with stock maps that have lots of one-sided walls like on Crossfire.
  8. Usually when I spec its for short periods of time. Maybe a few minutes. I do it if I am getting frustrated and its good to sit back for a few, sip on my beer, and let it cool down a little. Call it a timeout. Its a game and should be fun. But yes, if someone does it the whole game he should be kicked.
  9. CobraBites yea predator is glitched on farthouse cause it wont penetrate bldgs no longer so if u hit the roof of the map it will glitch but if u have predator on that map and aim for solid ground it will not glitch but u wont get any kills at all i ve done tested that theory That is not a glitch. Predator uses the same style of figuring out hits as cluster bomb strikes do for each bomblet. So does the B2 carpet bomb strike and the smartbomb. LOS checks can be ignored for Predator but that would also mean if you are in a cave and it explodes above you it affects you. I dont think people would like that. As for ground hits Predator has gone through some changes so lets see how it works.
  10. Have to look at how to do it but it is possible to retain the exact loadout before and after RC activation. So I will add that as an option when I can. Health for the RC should be 200 which would take 5 rounds from an AR to kill it. Unless the default health was changed in the server configs but I dont think it was. However quite a few changes were made to hopefully make it more efficient and lets see how it works when the next one is finished. But remember... you are shooting at a little car with a big explosive charge and gas. I also dont think the car should have the same kind of health as a player with Juggy.
  11. The jumping RC is NOT cool. Gotta fix that. Anyways, yes originally the respawn loadout included a fully restored loadout. Need to add a check for nades to prevent that, thx.
  12. Unless there is a clan priority yes the player that just joined a server with 22 people is the 23rd player and is the one redirected. Server configs allow for preferences for clan members and beyond that also admins. So the way it *should* work is that if a clan member joins then a non-clan member is redirected or kicked.
  13. Are you running on a Mac? Tested the map locally and it works both on the current beta and the next one coming up. But did not test on my Mac just PC. Just for clarification, 1.4 has a hard limit on asset requirements that it be no more than 1.3 has. No exceptions. Never played that map before and it sure is dark. edit: interesting. I got the 2400 error on forgotten also.
  14. When you tried did the server say it has 23 people? In this case it generally means someone is downloading a custom map before he is redirected. Open Warfare uses this method and AFAIK there is no way around this since the game downloads missing files before it runs the scripts in a mod. But looking into it and maybe someone found a way.
  15. Edit: Ooops, looked at the picture again. No the first pic is not the minigunner. A player was missing a head. The game doesnt like that. The first, did that actually look like a big red FX? Its hard to tell up close.
  16. I couldnt tell who it was but did the one who lived have the Lightweight perk? It has no fall damage built in but that was way just too much.
  17. Ok then it does sound like a respawn problem from the RC or perhaps the minigunner. I think those are the only two that use the invisible mesh. In MP the player heads and player bodies are separate models. So that is why the head is there but the body isnt. A few SP conversions (Zhakaev in OW, the Cobra pilot in this mod or Duke Nukem in others) are all-in-one and dont need the separate heads. So if you hever see an error about a missing j_tag head or something like that it is because the head was probably deleted.
  18. The first one is actually not a bug but more of how the mod sets max height for several types of air streaks. Some maps have unusually low map ceilings used for the skybox which is the effect that you saw. The care package was on the ceiling. Others, such as a version of Highrise have unusually high terrain compared to the map origin. Under those situations max height can be given custom settings per-map and I will play around with it and see what the value is so it can be added to the server configs. For the other, do you know if that was a result of an RC being shot? Or any other streak weapon? The player rig is actually there but I suspect it is the one without a mesh that is used to to hide the player in a few situations. I am pretty sure where the problem is but it would help if I could recreate it to be sure. Just remembered. There is a custom map... I forget which... but the ceiling is so low that you can actually throw grenades high enough that they hit it. When that happens the nades are deleted.
  19. Just a heads up... I didnt realize it but the Open Warfare version of freezetag looks to be missing overtime. So added to the list of things to do.
  20. Oh, yes that was fixed (or should be) for the next bug fix. Spawn protection will work normally and you will be invisible unless you activate your weapons early.
  21. Working on it. My bad eye is bothering me so probably not much today.
  22. The newer mod (1.4) is very much a different beast than the one before it. Depending on my mood my highly biased opinion leans towards playing the new mod. But other times getting back to basics is great also. Having options, a good thing is. But yes, a perk to help with objectives was sorely missing from the game.
  23. Are the correct ports open in the router? Or perhaps they are being forwarded to the wrong address? Not sure they actually have to be forwarded at all.
  24. Sv2 is quite full late at nights (PST) for a few hours. Dunno about daytime. Stock maps that I know by heart but still quite fun... more due to the players than the game.
  25. And just what exactly are all those cameras supposed to be used for.
