  1. Had the same issue, just reverted back to using Chrome. No issues.
  2. Welcome to the forums!
  3. That's the truth
  4. I can't speak to the difference between 8 and 8.1. I upgraded from 7 directly to 8.1 on Tuesday, and had my first in game crash today after playing all day Wednesday without issue. I am attributing the couple of crashes today to the failed R9 and R10 patches pushed by DICE and EA. After playing flawlessly on R8, there isn't enough evidence for me to say it's anything OS related, just software IMO.
  5. Think it is painfully obvious testing was minimal or not conducted) with this one
  6. Welcome to the forums, glad to have you around!
  7. sweet...i think you will notice the difference immediately
  8. yea, as much as I was a skeptic too...it dramatically helped me out. I will admit, W 8.1 was (well still is) a pain in the ass to get used to, but I only crashed out once yesterday playing BF4 in between maps. Previous days I would average one to two crashes an hour mid map. I will stand behind the assessment that W 8.1 is the way to go (for now) for more stable BF4 play. I haven't checked my frame rates yet, but I was able to optimize my settings via NVIDIA experience and not see a decrease in stability or artifacts in game.
  9. from initial reads about this patch, it sounds like it may have made things worse. Time will tell.
  10. I like how vague they are with the client side patch..."in the near future". To some, Dec 1 is the "near future". I will say this, and I said it all day in TS...as much as Windows 8.1 was a pain in the ass to get used to, it dramatically increased my stability. Crashed out once in between maps, no in game crashes today...and I was averaging 10-15 a day prior to this. If you can get your hands on a copy or spring the cash for it...it is well worth it if you want to enjoy BF4 a little better.
  11. Yea Ducky, looking to cut loadtime for BF4/other games and hold the OS.
  12. Thanks guys, and I will check your specs Lord.
  13. Ok, I've decided to break down and finally get an SSD. New to the Solid State world and I've heard mixed reviews about reliability. Anyone with experience care to recommend their favorite/trusted brand? I would appreciate it gang.
  14. Just remember...everyone is experiencing a ton of bugs...don't write the game or your system off. Give it some time for the client side and server side patches to catch up with all the glitches that have turned up. Best of luck dedmankiller!
  15. Hell TSW....there are snipers galore in Operation Locker too...can't escape them!

    hi all

    welcome to the forums Kaiser!
  17. even with the updated drivers, a lot of people (including myself) are crashing out, regardless of GPU brand. This is one of the major issues everyone is hoping the client side update will address. ..but TSW is spot on with the most up-to-date NVIDIA drivers

  20. Iraq in 2008, route clearance for convoys
  21. When I was stationed there it was common place to see a rifle hanging in the back window of every truck rolling through town. I will tell you it was the greatest place to live if you were a gun enthusiast. Walk into the sporting goods store/gun store with your pistol strapped to your hip, check it at the front counter. Walk to the back and purchase your new weapon (no waiting required, except for the couple of minutes it took for the "background investigation), walk back to the front counter to pick up your original pistol and exit the store double packing. Add in that large portions of the state are utterly beautiful and jaw-dropping and you have a winner in my book (if you can stand the cold that is). Looking back on it I miss being stationed there, but all good things must come to an end.
  22. Welcome to the forums Mortal!
  23. Just built mine w/ the i5-3570k and love it so far. Great processor for cheap.
  24. I am sorry to hear of your loss. Sounds like he was an amazing man.
  25. My new EVGA 760 SC works great...running everything on high/ultra and over 100fps. Never gets above 41c so far.
